Could DS's skin rash be due to the baby wash I'm using

So I jsut browsed a couple of forums and saw some stuff about how bad Johnson and Johnson's is, and also that some people have had trouble with Gaia...

Can anyone give me some info on this as DS keeps deveolping patches of very dry skin on his ankles, elbows and behind his knees- he is also Lactose intolerant but is on Lactose fre milk so I don't think that's a problem...

I saw someone recommending the Amway baby products as a good alternative, which could be handy as I think my neighbour has joined, but if you could let me know what has worker for you that would be great!!

    Thanks in advance!

I can't really help, as we've never had those kinds of problems, but I've heard MooGoo to be fantastic. Hopefully someone who has used it can come on and help

Hi hun, I'd say the washes could be to blame. My ds had terrible dry skin as a bub- it started to clear up as soon as I stopped using baby washes and lotions. I just use water on both mine now, and shampoo for ds maybe once a week.

Try just water, and some sorbelene (non fragranced). Might do the trick

    hey hun!

YES!! Johnson's products are disgusting!!! Right down to the baby powder!!! My daughter had the same... skin rashes from the baby baths... and every other product they have!!

Gaia baby powder is amazing!! I haven't tried their other products.. but their powder is great.

Curash have a great baby bath and shampoo... My DD is now 3.5 and I still use them on her cos she's allergic to everything else.

Perhaps there's a link here... my daughter is allergic to dairy also... she had to have a prescription formula as an infant (pepti junior). She's also allergic to citrus which was diagnosed by the acid type reaction her skin was having (grapes contain the highest concentrate of citrus - who would have known?).. and then there's also the gluten in her allergy list.

For my next baby... i'm not even going to bother trying other brands.. it's curash all the way.

hope this helps you a little

    take care

Ciara hun, just to let you know, Gaia powder is just corn starch with a few drops of lavender oil- much cheaper to make your own

DD gets eczema in those places. I only use water to bath her, and then the Moo Goo moisturizer where, and when, it's needed.
If you stay away from anything with petrochemicals or sulphates, you'll probably be heading in the right direction. Good luck.

Hmm thanks, isn't it horrible that companies are heartless enough to put such nasty things into baby products!! Makes me mad!!

    Makes me mad too!!

I also found a great organic brand that they sell in chemists.. it's very cheap too.. Organic Instincts. I even use their cleaning products.

Lori - you're dead right there.. i did know that but I've always had trouble getting cornstarch.. cornflour is easy to get but it's not good to use... I don't use powder unless there's a reason to.. so one bottle of it lasts me a long time. I'm ok with it being expensive if it's not often purchased.

I'm not sure what areas you guys are in... but the water in my area also causes skin irritation to myself and my DD... gosh, we must just be really sensitive to chemicals now!! lol... even drinking the tap water has caused thyroid problems and cancer-like symptoms. It's really sad how things have changed since our grandparents were kids hey?

Well i'm wishing you all the best, and Lori - with the next bub I will prob be better off doing as u suggested. Thanks!

Wow Ciara that is sensitive, but now that you mention it it would seem that DS rash is getting worse the more chemicals go into the water, and I don't care what the idiots say- I can taste more chlorine every fortnight!!!

Yeah we don't use poder at all, we were using Johnson's powder when he was first born, but I found that it actually made his nappy rash last longer than just giving him some nappy free time... of course MIL thinks I'm making it up, but then again she is comfortable with artificial sweetners in her coffee and thinks that DS should just tough out his milk allergy according to her "oh don't tell me you're going to put him on that soy ****..." attitude.---- no you crazy lady I'll just keep him on normal cows milk so he screams all day for me!!!

    Some people....
