    Is he weaning??

My 14 month old DS has been showing less and less interest in feeding over the last week, he still has a big feed in the morning but during the day he just doesn't seem to want to feed and only does for a few minutes (up until about 2 weeks ago he was having 4 feeds a day, the morning feed, and then I would feed him to sleep for his two day sleeps as well as when he went down at night). He has also dropped a sleep and ever since then just won't feed to sleep. Is he weaning or is it just that he is becoming more distracted as he interacts with the world more? I've been offering him feeds, I'm not ready for him to wean yet!

    Hi,
Well, I guess the answer is that he is weaning - a process that begins when a baby has something to eat other than breastmilk - but as to when he will have his final breastfeed, that's something we just don't know.
For as long as your son feeds, there will be milk there to meet his needs. Many children spend a long time just having one or two feeds per day - and that's completely normal. Some mothers worry that their baby would need to feed more often or that their milk would "just dry up" - that's not the case. Many mothers find that a new pregnancy at this stage speads up weaning. Might that be a possibility in your case.
You've breastfed well and long - good on you. It might finish sooner ...or later, but for now, just enjoy it.

I've been bfing my 3 1/2 year old DD once a day for the past 6 mths and before that for almost 2 years she only had 2 bfs a day.

It's completely normal at his age to lose interest in bfing often, but you'll probably find those bfs he finds most reassuring/important are part of his routine and he's not going to give them up for a while yet! Just keep offering and I'm sure he'll keep going.
