Need Some BB Finger Crossing and Good Vibes

I am almost embarrassed to post about our housing situation again

It has been very tortuous for us trying to decide what to do as we need more space but are on 1.5 incomes. We have been through every single option known to man (selling/buying, adding another storey, adding a bungalow, renting).

FINALLY as we ruled out all the other options for financial reasons, we found a rental place after three months of looking.

Put our application in last week. Application has been approved.

Now the owner is trying to decide whether to rent it out aferall or whether to sell it.

Please cross fingers that he decides to rent and that I don't have to write any more whingy posts about this!

Well, it ain't looking good. Owner is still weighing up options but the rental manager says he thinks he will sell considering what the sales team have been telling him he will get at auction.

So, I think I'm just going to have to extend my search. DP and I are fairly happy to live in a whole raft of suburbs but I've been trying to find somewhere which means DSD can carry on going to her current school. She's about to start Year 11.

BUT, have just had a look at areas like Hawthorn and Camberwell and there are so many 4br places for rent there compared to Northcote/Fairfield, it's not funny.

I think getting from Hawthorn to school in Northcote may be doable on public transport (neither DP or I could drive her, for different reasons). Think she could get a tram down Victoria Street then get a train.

Slightly less panicked now I've thought of these other options but gee, it would be so much easier if we got this house.

Hey was just thinking about you Fiona so glad to hear your update but bummed it ain't an easier situation for you ... maybe it's a good thing the real estate are giving you 'more' warning to get you thinking of other options as clearly you have been doing that.

At least DSD isn't just starting secondary school but more towards the end years of being there to make it doable

... All the best Fiona, and by the way those suburbs i would just LOVE to live in (Hawthorn & Camberwell)

Thanks Lorelle. I had been going a bit bonkers because I was restricting our search to places on the same train line as we are but a lot of those burbs are very hilly which is no good to me as I have trouble walking up and down hills because of a dodgy pelvis.

But I'm glad I've thought of some alternatives. I like Hawthorn but I've only ever really driven through. Love Burke Road, Camberwell though.

I *think* Hawthorn would be pretty doable for your DSD...DH works in Hawthorn and commutes from Northcote without too much hassle...will have to ask him what his route is when he takes PT...

good luck with it all. it's such a frustrating journey to find a place to make home xx
