Does anyone have a recommendation for a company to install floating timber floors in Melbourne? We will be ripping up carpet and tiles and want to install floating timber (real timber, not laminate) over a concrete slab.
We had a quote from Carpet Call the other day but were totally unimpressed with them, they didn't know how to measure the space properly and were all about the pressure sale when we had made it clear we were just getting an initial quote.
I was going to look at PTF (perfect timber floors) to do a second quote, but am after some general advice/recommendations from those who have installed floating floors over a concrete slab.
Is it worth paying the company to remove existing carpet and tiles?
I have heard the timber floors may mean all the doors need to be sanded down a little to allow them to fit over the floor, and this obviously costs extra. Has anyone had experience with this?
Also, I have read about a company (Completely Floored) that install floorboards (called Boardwalk) over concrete, but actually glue it to the concrete, so its not 'floating' as such, and this is meant to diminish the noise echo issue. Any thoughts?
Thanks for your input. We have been quoted around $100 per square metre with carpet call, although I have seen much cheaper prices on the net - what have other people paid?
