do you have any tips for saving we are trying to cut back and save but no clue where to start we obviously have to eat, get fuel, pay bills etc.
What do you do to ensure your utility bills are at a minimum?
Any grocery shopping tips or budget friendly recipes/meal ideas?
Any tips to help us save money will be very much appreciated
TIA
We do a few little things to keep bills down
- Do a grocery list and have a budget. Add up as you go around the supermarket to know how much you are spending.
- Turn off lights in rooms you arent using. Dont run heating and cooling when not really needed.
- Send emails instead of making long distance calls
- Check with your phone provider (eg Telstra) if you are on the best possible plan.
- We have our car on gas. Saves us a fortune in petrol costs.
- Do a monthly weekly budget and be serious about what you can do without.
- Have an amount direct debited out of the bank into a savings account each week / fortnight that you cant touch.
Turn off appliances when not in use (don't leave in stand by mode).
We tend to use ceiling fans and open doors instead of air-con (unless it is really really hot). I don't want my kids reliant on air-con cause it will mean I am stuck home in summer.
Try to do multiple things when in out so you cut down on car trips.
