gastro-just vomiting

this is not a question regarding my kids but

can you have gastro with just vomiting?? only at night??

a friend's son has vomited the past few night, once or twice they think its just attention seeking but could it be gastro??
he had gastro a few weeks back

could it be an ear infection? ds1 was getting upset and vomitted at night and turns out he had an ear infection?

I was chatting to a pharmacist on the weekend who said that gastro is almost always accomanied with diahroeha (sp?).

If the child was just vomiting it could be another reason that should be checked out. If the child has tummy pains it could be numerous reasons ie, blocked bowel, appendicidis, something else.

Yes my understanding of gastro is that if you have it, you are vomiting and have diarrhoea too (sometimes at the same time )... (i had it recently )
Hopefully he is ok.... he could just have a stomach virus.....
