Smile Has anyone ever gone 2am Christmas shopping?

Some shops down in the city, and around the country in other cities I think, are open for 36 hours straight leading up to Christmas, and I thought "who the heck does shopping then?!?!?!?!" but I guess some people must, since they open that long?

The only thing I can think of is shift workers... So has anyone ever done shopping in the midnight to 6am time and NOT been a shift worker?

What's the latest you've done your shopping?
We went at 8pm one Christmas on a midnight shopping night (I think it was the 23rd so pretty close to Christmas day too), and it was deserted? BUT I've never been to the city to do Christmas shopping.... is it really busy?

I've been going to the shops after dinner, around 8-9pm and its wonderful - no line ups or having to work your way around people. I'm not a morning person so this arrangement works well for me.

As for the midnight shopping adventure I thought I would have had to do that this year as I get paid on Christmas Eve.

Yep I've shopped it and I've worked over night too when I was 2ic at a store at Chadstone. It was flat out all night

Interestingly enough there was all sorts but I had a lot of calls the previous day from interstate travellers so reserve stock for them to pick up on the way through at 2 or 4am. Guess a lot of flights happen late or super early and they wanted to do some shopping on the way

My sister & I used to make it an annual event until I had babies!

We would go at about 10pm and come home around 1-2am I think. It was always really busy when we first got there and would quieten down around the time we left. We just did it cos it was fun and we could!

But having said that, I am the type to do things like that, the kmart near my parents house used to be open 24 hrs so we'd just go there at midnight if we were bored!

We were out till midnight last night. And often we do the 2 am thing just to be able to get out of the house at that hour. Crazy but FUN! It's never really packed, too many people like the hustle bustle of the daytime shop, or can't get out at night, or work etc. I'm done this year. So if we do go out at 2 am it will be purely for fun!

the year before I had DD I went about 1. came home about 4.

DH was on night shift, I couldn't sleep, and it happened to co-incide with the 24 opening times. It was nice. Not like battling them through the day.

I've been a couple of times on my days off, but I have been to PLENTY of brawls/stabbings when there is 24 hour shopping....so there are plenty of people out there.

I'm heading out tonight after the kids are in bed so I'll be leaving home about 8.30 - 9. I've done it before and it is great! Nowhere near the crowds like daytime, no fighting to the death for carparks plus I don't have to drag the kids around with me. It's so silly but I love heading out in the quieter times makes it so much more relaxing and I don't have to race around like an idiot to get as much as I can done before the kids get tired. I'm finishing up Christmas presents and doing my grocery shop. I'm expecting to be out for a few hours.

DH & I went out shopping at our local 24hr Kmart at midnight. There were actually quite a few people in there too. It was brilliant and I will be doing it again tomorrow night, only I will be doing it by myself.

Nope, because I live in Perth and WA is backwards and we don't have midnight/24 hour shopping!
Last night, tonight and tomorrow night the shops are open until 9pm and on Christmas Eve they close at 5-6pm as normal. We've had Sunday trading (10am-5pm) every Sunday in December as well. That's the extent of it!
