Congrats on getting the job Sacha. Sounds like you have a very busy time ahead of you and exciting also.

Jas - 8 teeth!! wow. And crawling too. That's fabulous. Mmmmm, my af arrived on the 23rd also. Made me feel like Budda wasn't little anymore.

All well here, just busy. Got a transfer with work which I wasn't expecting for another 5 years and stoked with the new position. Starting back 2 days a weeks next year which will help with the family finances and assist my brain back into 'normal mode' again (well hopefully)

Budda doing well. FINALLY started rolling a couple of weeks ago and this week has started moving backwards and pushing himself onto his knees. I'm not in a rush to see him move yet, but don't think it will be too much longer. So funny though as Beauty was only 3 weeks away from walking at this stage. No teeth though. I do LOVE gummy smiles.

Beauty and I are doing well now and I have been enjoying her company (and relaxing a whole lot more) over the past month. I found myself constantly picking negatives out and pulling her up about everything. I've come to realise that the poor little mite is just a little tot still, and it's not her fault that her mummy and daddy had a bub when she was so small. We are having a great time now, in and out of the home and I'm finding that she is so much more helpful, and often does things without being asked anymore.

TT is going ab fab. She takes herself to the toilet during the day and needs minimal help now. So wonderful to only have one in nappies.

Apart from that, it's the holiday season, and Xmas and new years and I always love this time of year. Wishing everyone a wonderful new year and hope you had a great christmas.

Nellnell - TEEHEE to AF! might have to call it that from now on.

Jas - WOAH! 8 teeth and crawling. It amazes me how babies progress into things at different stages. you'd have your hands full chasing him around. Lach is rolling everywhere and sometimes i have that 'omg where is he' moment and find him under the little table or behind a chair. eeek! to crawling/ walking. put him in his walker the other day and he followed me to kitchen, pulled magnets off fridge, pulled open drawers/ cupboards, played with dirty teatowel. *sigh* it really makes me think about more 'simple' things. what's normal for us is WOW to them.

Nell - great on your job and going back PT. I know what you mean bout getting your brain back. I really struggled in the interview for new job .... and i told them so. Thank god they're all mothers who understand. they apparently have a pregnancy chair there, which i'm going to find and get rid of once i get there! *stay away from me preggo chair*
Fanastic also that you're getting along better with Beauty and that TT is going great. i've found even our niece whos 5 is struggling not being the baby anymore. caught her take all lach's toys the other day and he cried cos he didn't have any to play with. should have seen her face when I told her to give him some back and that 'he's a nice baby who'd share'. LOL

how is everyones baby sleeping during day - lach wouldn't sleep til 12pm today (for 2.5hours) and is so full of beans i think he's dropping to 1 sleep a day. is that right?? at his age?? I think i might just let him cos he's happy up and adventuring.... and i'm going around the twist trying to enforce 4 hours of sleeps during the day that the CYH said he needs!

Sacha - OMG, dont talk about day sleeps! just kidding, but man, Budda is doing my head in. The last 3 weeks he only sleeps for max 30mins in his cot, but of course will sleep up to two hours in the car or the pram. I think they are all different in terms of how much sleep they have, but 1 good sleep per day is better than my 3 shocking sleeps. All the mums in our mothers group have their bubs sleeping 2 sleeps per day. Beauty didnt drop to one sleep until she was 16 months though......so who knows. If Lachlan is happy, it doesn't really matter. Pffft to the CYN and what they 'need', you know better than anyone what he needs.

Hi all.... I have read things along the way but not posted for a bit cos I've just been too tired!!

Sach, wtg on the job and hope the move all goes well for you. How exciting, a new adventure

lol @ the tooth... Elijah also got his VERY first tooth for Christmas day!! YAY!

Jas, omg! 8 already! wow. Elijah can't even be bothered rolling, let alone crawling ...he's such a lazy log. He can roll and I've popped him onto hands and knees and he will stay there and slightly rock so he can do stuff he just can't be bothered. He'd rather whinge until I go get him lol.

Sach, Elijah is a truly shocking sleeper, day and night so don't feel bad and certainly go with what he is happy doing. I'd love it if Elijah slept 2 hours in the day just so I had a really lovely break but it's just not going to happen any time soon I don't think!

Nell, I hear ya on the picking! I think that there are times where I'm most certainly way too harsh on poor Oskar. He's getting better too with things - mostly anyway. I love when he does those little things without being asked. Sometimes he'll go and get things for Elijah and it's so cute or sit and play with him. He was handing out grapes and cherries to the family lol... mind you they were one by one not a bunch or anything! haha but what a little host he was. If he gets a bikky he always wants to get one for daddy or Elijah. I think part of it all is that the babies are no longer boring little things which just feed, eat and poo but they interact now and have their personalities starting to show through.

    Happy New Year, girls!

My little man took his first steps by himself yesterday!!!! He already seems heaps better today, he took 8 steps in a row just before. I can't believe it, he is still so young.
Edward hasn't slept well while we have been up in Cairns. I am hoping that he will settle back into a better routine when we get home. Otherwise he has been just gorgeous and the we have had a great time swimming and eating and getting presents.
I am really looking forward to getting home but I know the boys will miss their grandparents (and I will miss the babysitting ). I wish they lived closer.

Sacha, that is great that you have a job waiting for you. It must be really exciting now it is all really happening!
Try not to worry about how many sleeps Lachlan has. They all drop sleeps at different times. Edward still has 2 most days but some days will only have 1. Byron doesn't have a sleep at all, and hasn't for a while, but I know lots of people with 4 and 5 year olds who still have day sleeps. Whatever works for you.

Jas and Nell, my condolences on the arrival of AF. I still don't have mine, but I am sort of wishing that i would... for some reason I am way more paranoid about getting pregnant accidentally. I don't know why as AF didn't come back until Byron was 13 months and I had stopped BF entirely. Edward still feeds more than Byron did at 8/9 months so I really shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Nell and Cass, it is good that both of your older children are settling down and things have improved. Byron has been a bit sillier while we have been away but for the most part he has been better. I think that I feel like I am being judged on my parenting when I am staying with the PILs, so I do give Byron a harder time, and that just makes him worse. I can relax again once we get back to Brisbane as you are both right... they improve when we don't nit pick them about every single thing.

Better go, DH and I are going out to dinner tonight so we need to help get the boys organised before we go. Bye.

Mel - oh my goodness...... STEPS!! at least your house would already be pretty babyproofed ??

My mum and dad had lachlan on NYE so we could go out (cos we're moving to a town with no family and 1 friend LOL) .... next morn I went and got him and he's commando crawling. I felt upset they'd seen it first.... but good for them to be a part of his 'first' crawling attempt as we'll be gone in under a week.

so yes LKW is commando crawling everywhere. and it's made me realise how dirty our floors are - his jumpsuits and singlets and nappies get covered in cr@p!!! oh wells.

had our niece (5yo) come stay for 24hours. is she a little miss bossy boots! made me appreciate having only 1 who doesn't talk (besides dad-dad and bub-bub!) .... she said things to me like 'sacha put lachy down and come and tear this out for me' and 'take the washing off the line, no you're doing it WRONG!'.... by the end of the 24hours i was over it..... i told her 'I won't be doing what you say if you speak to me like that' and she said sorry but did it again 5 mins later. is that an age/ sex thing? are little boys like that or is it an upbringing thing. she has much older brothers (same age gap as my step sons to lachlan) so i'm worried he'll be like that too - i caught her stealing his toys again! doesn't like to share at all!

Apart from that nothing much news.... I leave next monday morning for my 674km drive with lachlan. thank goodness mum is coming with me!

hope you're all great! so far 2010 is the best year - our dreams are realised. hope it's the same for you all too!

Sacha, the house is relatively babyroof, but you stop being so careful about things once number 1 gets a bit bigger and isn't chewing on cords and sticking things in powerpoints, so we have had to replace a few latches etc. Nothing too dramatic though.
Lol at dirty floors.I always said I was going to strap a sponge to Byron's chest so he could clean as he went, but I figured that some people wouldn't find it as amusing as me, so gave it a miss.
That is a real shame you missed Lachlan start crawling, but there will be lots more milestones for you to see first. They do new things all the time from here on in.

Don't assume that the behaviour of any child indicates what yours will be like at the same age. It sounds to me like your niece is allowed to be rude to her parents and will continue to be rude to adults until they stop her. Most kids will try it, but don't continue because it doesn't get them anywhere. I have also come across that sort of behaviour much more in girls than boys, you are more likely to be trying to manage a rough head than a bossy boots. I am sure Lachlan will be a delightful 5yo!

Cass, dinner was lovely. We went to a seafood place on the esplanade and then went for a walk along the waterfront. I guess it will be the last time we get to go for a child free evening stroll in a while. sigh.
I go back to work the week of the 18th of January, but will only be working Mon, Tues and Thurs. If you are free on Wed or Fri then we might finally get to meet IRL.

Wow, walking!!!! Nowhere near that in this house!! It must be lovely to watch your little person toddling around though

Cass, I had to laugh at you calling Elijah a lazy log! Sounds a bit like Noah, especially the part where you said he would rather whinge until you go and get him. Sounds very familiar

Noah is rolling. Some days he rolls everywhere and is in to everything, and others he'll just lay or sit there and look at me like "just pick me up will you, it's all just too hard". He's not even getting up on his knees at all. He can slide himself backwards (and get stuck under tables/chairs etc) but not forwards. As for being on his feet, not interested at all.
His top two teeth are on their way, so then he will have 4 teeth. Still breastfeeding, and he's now eating me out of house and home!

I am starting to feel like I need to work. I will only work part time though, so could be a long time before I find something. I just think it would give me a bit more balance and would be a positive for all of us. Here's hoping I can find something suitable.

Mel, Oskar will be in daycare Wednesday's but Friday's should be ok. Will definitely make a date!

Megan, lol... he IS a lazy log! He does NOT roll anywhere but onto his side and almost all the way over to his tummy to reach things but that's it. Oh I hear ya about eating ... OMG since Elijah decided a few weeks ago that food was good he just LOVES eating. We've done BLS... were you doing that also? Elijah loves anything, it's great. I just give him the same and he sits there kicking his feet and eating. He grabs handfuls of food and stuffs it in and licks his hand haha so funny and MESSY but cute too. He chews it so well and you see him moving it around in his mouth. I swear he gags so much less than Oskar ever did and is miles ahead in the eating game. Oskar had all the pureed veg etc and it really was harder, as in, changing the texture etc. Elijah had mashed potato with peas and corn in it, rice, baked beans, scrambled eggs etc and just has no problems at all. It's fantastic!

I weighed Elijah the other day and he is 9 1/2 kg now lol and about 74cm tall/long. We call him nugget haha. He's too cute. Second tooth is almost through and mustn't be bugging him so much now cos he's not so velcro.. yay! Not sure if/when he'll crawl. Was watching him and he swivels around on his bum and pushed himself backwards on it yesterday. I'm wondering now if I've got another bum shuffler on my hands. Would be really amusing if he is the same as Oskar cos it's not usual really. Anyway, he's no better a sleeper yet but is sleeping now so I better go and get me some sleep too!

Yep, we're doing BLS too. He's so funny. We eat together everyday and he just has what DH and I have for dinner (unless we have a hot curry or something - he loves a mild curry!). Pasta is his favourite by a mile and he just shoves one shell after another in his mouth until he can't fit any more, then chews/swallows and goes again! This week he has decided he doesn't like orange vegies! No carrot, pumpkin or sweet potato has crossed his lips! lol But happy to eat everything else. Tonight he picked up about 3 bits of carrot, looked at me, blew a raspberry and then threw it back on his tray! lol cheeky little monkey. lol We can no longer eat in front of him without him squealing and whinging because he wants some, even it's a complete stranger he sees eating. Will be interesting when we go out to dinner on saturday night! Seems like that part time job will come in handy to pay for all the extra food!

lol at being eaten out of house and home, Megan. It costs me a fortune to feed my boys already... I am dreading them being teenagers. Byron devoured a whole lamb shank for dinner the other night and asked for another one! I think we have about 6 more months before Edward catches up and I have to start buying whole cows at a time.

Cass, I weighed Edward the other day too and we are up to 10.8kg. He is 77cm tall. Certainly a round little fella. It isn't stopping hime in the mobility stakes though. He is now walking easily between tables etc that are about 6 metres apart. He has even started standing by himself in the middle of the yard. It was ages after he started walking before Byron didn't need to pull up on things. It is scary, but yes Megan, it is really lovely and exciting to watch him toddling. You can't help but feel proud of how clever they are when they do something new.
Edward slept through to 5am last night for the first time in ages. We had a couple of nights of just one wake up at about 2 before that so hopefully we are going to get a bit more sleep again. It was starting to do my head in getting up 3 or 4 times a night. Sleep deprivation really isn't good for a person.
The boys start Daycare on Monday, I start work on Wednesday, so I will have 2 child free days! I am not sure what I am going to do with myself. Maybe catch up on some more sleep before I go back to work.
DH turns 30 today. Only 12 weeks till I turn 30 too. It is strange how an age that seemed so old when I was a teenager doesn't feel very old at all when you get there yourself. We are having a bit of a daytime gathering on Sunday which should be good. Kids really change the plans you make for parties etc. Night things are just too hard. Anyway, I have to go and do some more shopping for the last of his gifts so we can give them all to him tonight.

    Enjoy your weekends.
