    What to wear dilemma

What would you wear to a wedding that states on the invitation:

'Wear what you feel comfortable in. High heels and neck ties are optional'

    The wedding is next weekend.

i'd totally be in flat (nice) shoes.... but i'm 9 months pregnant... even so, i'd still be in comfy flat shoes!!

and a nice dress, or black pants/nice top etc...

how nice to be able to choose!

I would expect not jeans (never jeans to a wedding!!), a nice summer dress, or Skirt & top. It is a celebration, afterall - not a day at park with the kids.

I also firmly believe that you should never wear white to a wedding (that's for the bride), or black (it's not a funeral!). Black skirt or pants are ok, but your top/dress can't be too dark.

I think that's about tbe only thing that would fit me after the amount of food I've eaten over the past few days.

I'd follow the spirit of the request and wear something that I think looks nice BUT most of all that I'm comfortable in.

Is black really bad for weddings? All my clothes are black. I'm gonna have to go shopping I think.

Is it going to be warm? What about a maxi dress with a short cardi? That should also hide the 'Christmas baby'.

I'm with Nelle with this one, i reckon a nice maxi dress with a cardi and some flats. You'll look terrific and will be very comfortable and maxi dress's hide EVERYTHING

I have been looking at maxi dresses but I'm very short and can't find one that is able to be taken up. They all seem to have large patterns on them which sort of start around the hem and go up the dress, they would look odd with 30cm taken off the bottom. I am yet to find a plain-ish one.

I wore all black to the last wedding I went to , but I was 6mths pg... I think it's ok to wear say, black pants, isn't it? If you have a different top?

Shoes, I would wear whatever you are comfy in, heels if you usually do, flats if you don't.

ahh.. the curse of the short people this season. I can't fit maxi dresses either. Not to mention my shape makes them look more like tents.

Black pants are fine, but I think a nice top (not black) has to dress it up. I also think guys shouldn't go a boring suit & white shirt, but dress that up too. Loose the tie, and wear a really snazzy shirt - there's so many good ones out there.

I had to get friends to specifically talk one of DH's mates out of wearing jeans. He still wore a horrible alcohol-brand tie... but I was happy it wasn't jeans & a polo shirt!
