Anyone read the True Blood books?

I have a gift voucher and I am not sure if I should get the True Blood series or The Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind.

Has anyone read the True Blood books and are they any good?

I Have, and I loved them! I Think there's 12 books in total and I knocked them off in 2 weeks, couldn't put them down.

Opps forgot to mention, if you do decide to get the series - google the order the books go in. The inside cover does list them but it's not always correct! I got a third into one book before realising and it had some big spoilers!

I have read them and I enjoyed them too. I found the story held my interest and they were humorous (but not funny haha IYKWIM). Her writing style reminded me of Janet Evanovich

Arte, I bought DH the first one for Christmas...he hasn't read it yet but loved the telly series...have you seen it? But then I was at Big W the other day and I saw they have a big paperback "omnibus" for all of $20...might be worth trying to get that one, instead of the individual volumes.

Thanks, sounds like they might be a go.

MD, I saw the omnibus of books 1-8 for $85 which I thought was o.k, but $20 is a lot better! I haven't seen the series but if there are books then I would rather read them iykwim.

I've watched it and quite like the series (Chris Isaak singing "I wanna do bad things to you" is a HIGHLIGHT )

A friend has read the series and declares the books better.

Sorry not Chris Isaak, it is Jace Everett. No matter how many times I correct DH, he always thinks it is Isaak singing.

I've read all the books - there are 9 with number 10 coming out this year (I think). The books vary from the TV series, and I think the books are better. They are like the TV series in that the sex scenes are a little on the graphic side but its a pretty good series.

Buy or borrow one and see how you find it. I got my from amazon and I got the box set of 8 books for teh same price I would have paid for 3 in the bookstores.
