    I'm doing it

Cold turkey (almost) & this time I'm going through with it.
DH is home til at least the 3rd-ish, then I can go stay with him anyway, so he'll still be there to help out of work hours.
I went to mum's on Sunday & he stayed the night & went all yesterday & last night with no boob. He asked a few times, but we got through it. So that was 1.5 days & 2 nights.
I was in pain & he was kicking & screaming for it this morning, so I gave him a feed, but thats it so far.

I guess we are on day 2, night 3 with only 1 feed...

I'd love to keep going & I do feel I'm bowing down to public pressure...well more family pressure really.... But at the same time, he is nearly 22 months old. He's almost 2, we've had a good run & I really don't have a problem with it. Til he goes to sleep without asking for it, lol.

He's going from my bed to a big boy bed, TT & going off boob all at the same time, but all while daddy's home, so I hope thats enough of a consilation prize & that I'm not pushing too much all at once.

    Hi BJRose,

You seem a bit ambivalent about the whole thing. It's okay to not be sure, but try and make peace with your decision either way, if you can!

From what I gather, it's a process, so don't be too upset if it's one step forward, two steps back, especially with so much going on for him right now!

You've done an AMAZING job, feeding him for this long, what a great start to life you've given him. Good luck with this next step, fingers crossed it happens fairly smoothly!

All the best. Maybe play it by ear a bit. Even if he has the odd feed when he really needs it, you can still be working toward weaning if that's what you want. No reason you can't keep going with sporadic feeds for as long as you're both happy to

    Wow....I think we've done it!
He had morning boob on Wednesday, morning boob on Tuesday & thats it since Sunday!
    Distraction is the key!
He stayed out at mum & dad's the last 2 nights. So we'll see how we go when he comes home. Normally the second I get him, its sit & feed straight away. He tells me where to sit! lol
He woke for it yesterday night/morning, but didn't do it this morning. Was grumpy, but didn't ask.

I think I just picked the right time. The few times he's asked I remind him that he's a big boy now. I just say big boy & ask for big boy cuddles, & he's usually fine. He's asked for it a few times, but it was a cheeky, see it I'll do it ask, lol. With cheeky grin & all, then he'd just snuggle in & kiss them & pretend. Had a real winge for them nye, but finally getting his turn on the car ride was enough, lol.

I thought it would be so much harder. A friend weaned her DS at 16 months & he screamed for it for the first 3 days & they had a hard time for a whole week of crying & stuff.

I'm not counting my chickens, lol. I'll wait til he walks through the door after 2 nights without me to do that, lol! But I think we're almost there.
