    3yr old denying growing up!

    Help!

DS2, now 3yrs 4mths, absolutely hates toilet training. He detests going to the toilet. At first I thought he was scared, then I thought maybe he wasn't ready, but no, he just screams and kicks and yells on the way to the toilet (if we catch him in time), and once he's on, he'll happily wee, flush and wash his hands... so confusing. He also refuses to poo in the toilet, which I'm not too stressed about, as that usually takes a little longer to grasp.

A lot of friends tell me that boys just take longer to train than girls, and I don't mean to compare, but DS1 was day & night trained way before he was 3. I'd be happy to give him some leeway if he was day trained by now, but honestly, if we don't physically pick him up and carry him to the toilet every 2-3hrs he'd wee and poo in his undies and then not even tell us about it, leaving it for us to realise!

We've tried sticker charts, food rewards, simple praise and celebration, but nothing is working. I'm trying not to get too stressed about it, as I know that it can affect their progression.

    Any advice?

When did you start to TT him? Do you think having another baby in the house might have anything to do with it? He might be hanging on to this last vestige of babyhood because once he lets go, that's it, he's not your baby boy anymore, he's your little boy and this is his last chance to stay your baby kwim? Or he could be like my eldest child. He used to be the same, would fight you tooth and nail if you tried to make him sit on the loo, but once there he was fine and did what he had to do. His issue was embarassment though and once he realised that I would help him on and then leave him to do his thing he was fine.
