Sydney FS... not sure whether to see one

I am currently seeing Dr. David Roxburgh OB at Penrith. I like him alot. He has put me on clomid, etc (PCOS).

I've been wondering though whether I should be more aggressive to find out what is going wrong as it's been 3 long years since this rocky road began.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a FS in Sydney (doesn't matter where) who might be able to give me some answers? Or should I just stay with my OB and take his advice.

    Hi Bella,

I am only new to this site and my issues were different to yours but I can say I loved my FS at Sydney IVF, Dr Devora Lieberman. She sees people out of her city office (which may not be suitable to you in Penrith?).

The costs are changing due to the government reducing the Medicare rebate available for IVF services and it wasn't the cheapest thing to go through but if you feel like you aren't getting anywhere with your current set up it may well be worth at least investigating the IVF services available elsewhere? Like I said we used Sydney IVF, but I think IVF Australia is also good and there is a program at Westmead as well.

We were lucky with a first cycle success and pregnancy so I wish you the best of luck on your own journey.

    Hi Beth,

I live in the penrith area as well and also have PCOS. I can highly recommend Dr Derek Lok at Sydney IVF, you can have treatment with him either in the Sydney Office or Liverpool.

With my PCOS first thing they did for fertility was put me on Metformin (in a particular Diabex XR) - some really interesting research from the leading endocroligist in Sydney Dr Warren Kidson about how Metformin can reduce miscarriage rates in women with PCOS as well as increase pregnancy rates - definetly worth investigating if you are not already on it. Great article on it is - http://www.posaa.asn.au/files/PCOS%20Guide.pdf

I believe the more information the better! A FS will give you more detailed information about your fertility and your partners, allowing you to make a more informed decision on what to do next. So I say go for it, make an appointment with a FS what have you got to lose?? You definitely have more to gain through the process

    Best of Luck
