Working from Home - baking, advice please

Before we left England I had a little business making and selling cupcakes (using my own domestic kitchen). I'd love to start up again over here but I'm not sure where to start.

In England the local council had a page on the website with links to all the certificates etc I had to have and how to get licensed. I've looked at my local council site here (Maitland, NSW) but honestly can't see where to start.

Is there anyone doing something similar who'd be able to point me in the right direction for the relevant regulations?

    Thanks,

    Fiona

Some councils can vary with the websites - I'd give them a call directly. They may have an information pack to send to you.

Also try the State Government websites, you may be able to find some info there too.

I bake from home with a similar business and contacted my local council and was advised that I have an exemption from having to register my business due 1. never having a person pick up food from my premises and 2. the size of my kitchen in regards to the house. It possible is different in each council so I woul;d contact coucnil as well

yes kitchen has been inspected and I have done all the food handling courses, but I don't have the added obligations of not having kids in the house when cooking, extra taps and basins in kitchen only for the use of hand washing, water temperature up to really hot levels etc.
