    Hi ,
Best thing to start doing is just take note of the length of your cycle for a couple of months. Day one is the first day of bleeding (usually only counted if you start bleeding during the day not late afternoon). Record the length of the cycles then average them after a couple of months. The second half of your cycle (after ovulation) is called the luteal phase and is generally 14 days. So if you average a 27 day cycle you should in theory ovulate on day 13.

All this aside my advice would be have sex every second day from day 10 to day 20 of your cycle every month and you will get pregnant eventually if it is going to happen. If you don't have a regular cycle at all it is a bit harder to be very accurate.

hope any of this helps. good luck

Hi, it took me some time to get used to ff, being in the ttc groups helps with everyday questions.

Consistancy is the key when temping. Take your temp each morning at the same time before doing anything else. I use my phone to record the temp and put it into ff later. After a few cycles you'll start seeing a pattern emerging.
Complimenting ff I find the use of opk's helpful.

I'm currently taking the relaxed approach to ttc ATM and haven't been temping just detailing cm, symptoms and af.

All the best in your ttc journey.

I never have a good cycle as I have PCOS and I have to take provera to make me bleed and sometimes it takes a while which makes it hard
I would like to know what the go is with the temps do I just take my normal body temp like in the ear with the thermometer I have for my daughter or do I need a special 1

    Advice

I recommend you visit Francesca Naish's website - fertility dot com dot au (not allowed to write direct links here), and invest in her book -The Natural Way to Better Babies - Preconceptual Care for Prospective Parents. That will explain in detail everything you need to know. I also recommend you purchase the conception kit which provides you with the stuff needed for charting etc - the book may even be included in the kit.

PS - because you have PCOS I suggest you get onto an alkaline diet asap to increase your Ph levels and assist your chances of conception. PCOS thrives in an acidic environment and cannot survive in an alkaline environment.

If you're at the chemist ask for a bbt thermometer, about $18. You can take temps orally or vaginally. Another site for consideration is lullaby conceptions, you can get a bbt, opk's and hpt's.
Jelly bean thanks for the website suggestion

You could also have a look at the pregnancy charts in the Conception area, they will give you a good idea about charting by just looking at them!

Basically your temps stay lower in the beginning of your cycle and then O happens and you should get a sharp incline and this should stay higher through the end part of your cycle - lutual phase...if you are pregnant it will stay high but if AF arrive it will have a dramatic drop again!

    Hope i helped

I agree with the girls above there are lots of tools to help you chart in more advanced ways than just length of cycle etc. just got to decide if that is what you want to do. I have have done the simple way, the extensive temp and symptom charting thing, with no success unfortunately and eventually had to go the IVF route, now have a lovely 13 month old girl.

if you can afford the expense, the ovulation kits work well, they are just the same as a pregnancy test, pee on the strip type thing. If you have variable cycles you will probably use more strips waiting for ovulation to occur.

If you are on clomid, did a specialist prescribe it or GP? my specialist gave me a really simple chart to follow, just temp each day and period dates. it was more for her to look at really but it was pretty easy.

How long did you bleed for?
It can actually be common for some women to bleed a little after sex, I almost always have bled a wee bit immediately after sex or the next day, so I've never thought much of it. I always presume I bleed a little that my partner and I just got a bit rough and I've had some vaginal wall tearing or something, since it is possible for that to happen.
We like a bit of hardcore pounding during the baby dance, LOL

I bled for a few hours I would say about 4 hours or so
and sorry if TMI but it was all mucusy as well
I guess it is possible it was a tear or something so we did get a bit rough but I am not sure

It has been a while since I was on clomid but if you read the side effects profile on the packet it may mention some break through bleeding. Frankly clomid made me very cranky and "hormonal".
