We have an allowance each, $100 a fortnight- I spend half of mine each fornight on my personal training, that is my splurge (about $120 a month) and the rest goes towards whatever, clothes, makeup etc.
We don't do the allowance thing, but we budget in a couple of games of golf for DH a month and I get my arcrylic nails and my waxing done... works well for us!!
We usually go to breakfast once a month (sometimes with the kids, sometimes without) which I prefer rather than takeout dinners.
Chiro, nails and laser (until I need no more) are my frequent splurges. Most often it's all put on credit. The CC is always paid off in full each month, so I guess that's my allowance!
We have a 'play money' section in our budget which I tend to spend on clothes and sometimes nails or hair or makeup... We also spend heaps of money on health ie chiro, acupuncture, massage, that probably averages around $100 a week I'd say but that is in a seperate 'health' section of the budget. We also have another section of the budget for dining out cause we love to do that, we budget for once a fortnight at a nice restaurant
we're still finding our feet with this one! i've been feeling a bit blah - i didn't think about clothes or beauty treatments while i was PG or in the first couple of months after DS was born but the blaaaahhhh feeling has been building up. we've been trying to find room in our budget for me to do things like get my hair done.
ideally, my splurges would be hair every 6-8 weeks, eyebrows when necessary, waxing & occasional facials.
we really dont have the money to splurge at all... DH is an apprentist so money is really tight.
one day we'll have splurging money though... only another 3 years to go.
I have a "living" account - where money not for bills goes into - this covers my bus/petrol, food and any treats - at the moment hair is every 6-8 weeks so I budget for that out of my living account.
