Hmmm ... before I read your post Bath about the garden, I was thinking pot plant. D'you have any pots outside?
While i was in hospital recently with our 6yo my teenage DD had to care for our 3yo son. One day he grabbed the spare house key... took it outside... and apparently threw it!We have asked him where but he comes up with a different story each time. DH has already crawled under the house with no luck (there are gaps between the wood... our house is raised off the ground over a meter).
The key is an old one... tarnished copper, so brown, a Lockwood one.
Can anyone "see" where it is laying??? It has to be somewhere!!!

Do you know anyone with a metal detector? That's how we found DH's wedding ring once when it fell off in the front yard.
I would ask your DD where he was all at and check those places and also anywhere he places at...
hope u found it.
As I read it I saw 2 or more bushes against a wooden fence. Kind of pictured the key flying over the bushes and falling between the bushes and the fence. There may have been a small building to the left of the bushes.
ok...interesting... regarding pot plants... no, BUT there are two boronia bushes in brick planters each side of our front steps... I'll go have a good look in them...
ETA: no luck, but I did find other random objects like pencils etc that no doubt he has thrown in there. It is highly likely that the key was thrown over the two boronia bushes and onto the front lawn... yes, we may need a metal detector!

I must be way off! I'm seeing a patch of dirt that meets grass. The dirt is loose like it gets a lot of traffic. And it's been accidently covered. As though it's been accidently kicked or scuffed or the dirt has been scuffed over it.
But seeing as everyone else's responses are similar I would say don't go by me at all LOL!
Ok... just to fine tune all this LOL the two bushes is spot on. Beyond that is a lawn with a curved red brick footpath... laid kinda like the yellow brick road on the Wiz of Oz. The dirt could be the gaps between the tan bark of the garden beds... i've been scratching around there and covering the dirt gaps as I go.
But still no luck.
Had a look near the wooden fence but that is way over on the other side of the drive way... I don't think even he could have tossed it that far. He is a "thrower" though.
Maybe he ate it then![]()
Would it be very childish of me to come over and hide a key in the planter and claim victory?
I keep on getting the feeling of right. So he threw it to the right with his right hand.
I've been drawn to the right too Astrid... But when DH questioned him the first time he pointed off the side of the verander to the left... down toward the foundations of the house... which is why he crawled under the house. BUT today DS told me it was more to the front of the verander... I keep drifting right though in my search. Ahhh I dunno.... it might turn up one day when i'm out there weeding...

I read the title of your post and got the image of grass with a path running alongside it and I felt it was in the grass...off to the right.
I thought of grass too when I read your post but I saw long grass?
Lots of lawn out the front... mostly mown ATM... but there is longish grass around the edges where I need to weedI'll make sure to focus on those spots. BTW there is a photo of the 3yo in question beside my current ticker... that expression says it all! he ain't tellin'!!!
