    Big white lump on tongue

DS has a hard, white lump on the side of his tongue. Doesn't seem to be causing him discomfort, but looks bad. Will make a doc apt to check it out, but anyone know what it might be?

My doc is hard to get in to cause he insists on doing 20min per patient. I probably could have gotten in sooner with someone else, but I like our doc.

No other symptoms that I can see. And doesn't seem to hurt when I touch the lump.

    Anyway, thanks again

DD gets these on both sides of her toung, and usually a week later she gets a rash and blisters, so we think its teh begining of Hand Foot and Mouth, but i also think she started biting her tounge in her sleep as well. then it gets infected becaiuse she puts everything in her mouth which then causes the infection etc. you know vicous circle really

It's one big lump, so I dunno about thrush. No sign of spreading.

Hadn't thought of hand, foot & mouth. He has had that before though...(but they weren't 100% sure on diagnosis cause the bumps he had weren't quite typical).
Well, mum had the bright idea of calling our Child health nurse - d'uh. don't know why i didn't think of that. So i'll see if she has a minute tomorrow. The clinic is a short walk from here, so we might get lucky.

    Thanks for the replies!

a few of tays weren't 100% diagnosed either though im 99% sure it was.

she gets a rash in her groin as well and tends to drink more when she has it..

Thrush? The beginning of an apthous mouth ulcer? Possible hand foot and mouth or some other coxsackie virus? It's hard to tell without looking, but if it's not causing her any discomfort, that is a good sign.

Weeell... nurse clinic was closed for a few days anyway. But then, it disappeared! Can kinda see an 'edge' of skin around where it was, so guess it must have been some kind of blister? So cancelled doc cause was going to be hard to get over there anyway and he still seems fine.

My best guess is that he bit his tongue really hard and there was a blister... seems really strange to me, but no other symptoms at all.

    Thanks again guys
