I am astounded at how much I've spent on getting my kids back to school this year. DS is starting high school and it seems just when I think I've got everything something else pops up. The $300 school start bonus went nowhere, all I got with that was his shoes, bag and some of the stationery. Today I'm going to buy his uniform, I've added up what he needs with no extras and it's come to over $400! His books were around $500 if I'd bought them new, luckily I was able to get a few 2nd hand from a friend. I still have $180 to spend on books that she didn't have though.
So far all up I've spent over $800 on DS and $200 ish on both DD's but I have to wait until school opens to get them a few bits and pieces.
How much is it costing you to send your kids to school this year? Not including fees.
.......and i've just remembered I haven't bought socks and undies etc yet
My dd is starting Kindy this year, and is only going to be going 5 days a fortnight and I think is going to cost me close to $200 to get her kitted out in school uniform, get her books & stationary, school bag, shoes etc
Well for school books for Yr1 and 6 I spent $288
Shirts $100 (had 2 each from last year)
Still have to buy shorts prob about 3 each so around $60-80
I think their shoes are right :crossedfingers:
I don't think there is anything else at this stage. Maybe their school lunch things.
I have #3 starting this year plus our school changed to a new uniform so we had a lot of expense this year.
Shoes $200
Shirts $189 (9 shirts)
Shorts $60 (boys shorts changed from grey to navy so even though his old ones were fine, I had to get new ones)
Skorts for DD2 $50
Stationery $100 (enough to last the entire year)
Drink bottles $90 (stainless steel ones - never buying plastic ones again is the plan)
Hat for DD2 $15
And of course come winter I will have winter uniform expenses too.
It is a lot, but I have actually found that I don't have to buy as much casual clothes for when they are home as they are at school most of the time kwim? So I suppose it all evens out in the end.
