my situation is a bit different - my dad passed away Jan last year and he had funds tied up in various things, but his solicitor/executor has advised that the funds for death benefit won't be able to be paid to us until they are released by the government/funds groups.....not that we need the money but yeah, just wanted to say that we are in a similar situation
yeah, for us, i just want it all settled so i can properly move on from dads passing - we get a chq in the mail every 4 months or so saying the same thing "pls find enclosed amount of xxx from the deceased estate of xxxx - this is not the complete and final payment and due to the GFC death benefits are unable to be paid in full as is normal protocol - These monies will continue to be forwarded to you as they become available from the funds" - i just want to move on!!
not me, but friends of mine invested their entire house sale proceeds for 12 months with a reputable investment house, and were told early last year their funds were frozen and they may or may not receive any back.... this has since improved to they may receive 30c in the $ back. They have yet to see any of it.
well after borrowing some money from my parents to replace the evap cooler which has dies, we received a letter from axa saying the funds where availalble for us to access! just in time too as our roof also needs fixing
misty thats awful about your friends very wrong, i hope they get more than that back
I just don't understand it - this money belongs to other people, I don't see why the institutions can just keep it and cry 'GFC!' My IL's lost over half of their super, and now FIL has had to go back to work at 67, because they can't get a pension because of their super, but they can't access their super because of the GFC - RIDICULOUS!
