I was wondering if you guys could give me some tips on organising/ cleaning my house, any and all would be appreciated. I feel like a little mouse on a wheel, running but never getting anywhere! Do you guys have schedules or lists? Ironing days? Or are you drowning in finger puppets and sippy cups like me?
1. Book called "organising from the inside out". It's about looking at your house, room by room and figuring what works, and how it works now. So for example, if you always kick off your shoes when you walk past the frog statue, put a shoe box there It's very good, but slow.
2. website called "flylady". She has a routine and introduces you to it over a couple of months. It's her routine but it does work as a quick-fix ...
I joined the flylady about 3 weeks ago and it's working a treat.
She works in zones by taking baby steps in de-cluttering, cleaning and organsing the house. She is on fb and has a website.
There was a thread in here about it, the suggestion in the post was to go to the website and check out the baby steps.
My number 1 tip (well actually I only have 1 LOL - but it works) is BASKETS.
I keep a laundry basket handy and whip around each room picking up the things that don't belong there, & putting the things away from the basket that do...around the house once and it's all picked up.
I also keep 2 baskets in my kitchen...one is for all the little bits of paperwork, letters etc I haven't dealt with yet and the other is all the stuff that needs filing. I can go thru whenever I need to but it saves kitchen-counter clutter and plus I can *always* find that bit of paper/letter whatever I need when I need it.
ETA good luck with flylady. The website made my head hurt so I figured it wasn't for me LOL.
