Ooh I love golden syrup dumplings! Perfect winter dessert too!
Here is my mum's recipe, it makes quite a few dumplings (enough for a family of 5, maybe with a few left over depending how big you make them). I usually double the amount of sauce because it seems to evaporate quite quickly when I make them (although mum's never did..lol).
Rub 1 tablespoon butter into 1 large cup self raising flour. Add 1 beaten egg with a little milk and make into dumplings.
Drop into the following boiling syrup: 1 cup water, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon golden syrup and 1-2 teaspoons butter.
