    Breast Infection

So i woke up this morning and my left breast was a bit hard(ish) and tender.. so i went to the after hours clinic at the local hospital. seen a doctor. he "felt" my boobs.. was strange.. he said that it seems i have an infection in my breast. He gave me antibiotics and said if it doesnt go away once ive finished then to make an appt with a doctor davidson (he is a gyno) He said that the tenderness is to do with my period..

So my question is: How do you get an infection in your breast? The doctor didnt really explain to me. he said the antibiotics are abit strong for a 21 yr old..

    TIA
    P.s. thanks for listening

Just wanted to say that i went to another doctor today he examined me and he said it could be fibroglandular change - maybe fibroadenoma. Sent me to get an ultrasound on my left breast and also gave me inflammantory(sp?) Tablets. i can call back after 2pm tomorrow to get results of ultrasound. Go back and see him in 3 weeks

Oh, I think my friend had something similar, I'll ask her. But she wasn't given inflammatories, had a biopsy and ultrasound. She has to go back every 6 months for checkups (and I just had a serve at her for not getting the checkup!!!)

It was really scary for her / us as we all feared the worst

thanks Netix. im glad i went to another doctor. just gotta finish the tablets he gave me. which will be done after 2 weeks.(ish) he also told me to get better support as i have alot of breast tissue (breasts are 16dd Sry if thats tmi) he said a sports bra so i have got a few. i slept in one last night and i woke up this morning and no hardness. is it bad to sleep in a sports bra??? im also going to get "fitted" for a better support bra while im in Sydney next week..

Hey, not tmi, we're all the same! I honestly don't know if its bad to sleep in a sports bra.... When you're off getting fitted, you could ask the lady what sort of bra she would recommend for sleeping in, and that you do want x amount of support while you sleep (so maybe a sports bra would be better, or one with less support, iykwim). I have tiny (compared what they were) bb now after bf two kids (tmi? ) so I have to go and get fitted myself when I finally finish bf Ryan. Hope it stays going well for you.

ETA- not tmi bout bf and i hope that it stays well for me too.

hey retrogal... i used to be a bra fitter up until a couple of months ago.. i would not recommend sleeping in any underwire bra. if you can, try to get a really tight support bra without the wire. and a couple of wired ones for during the day.
if you have any other questions please pm me.

Thanks liz28. So sleeping in a sports bra (with no underwire) is fine for the time being?? And i should be able to pick these bra's up from bra's n things?
