    Share your weaning experiences

So, for those of you who have let your bub decide when and how to wean - what was your experience like?

DS is 11.5 months and I have recently noticed he has started dropping feeds, just one or two during the day so far. It happened so suddenly and unexpectedly, that it's got me thinking about weaning... about how it will happen.

So, I was just wondering what your weaning experience was like? When did you first notice your LO dropping feeds? How quickly did it happen? How many feeds a day were you on at different ages? When did your LO wean completely, and how did you feel/react to it?

    Happy sharing

I'll be sure to pop in once my DD actually completes the process of weaning!

I'm mainly just interested in how it started to happen... when feeds started being dropped, etc. Doesn't matter if you're still going!

Before 10/11 mnths DS was feeding literally 2/3 hrly all day and night it was only for a minute or so and compared to the early days it didn't bother me too much. As I was going back to work and had to sort out DS's sleeping in desperation I went to a sleep school and I cut the feeds right back to in the morning, after day sleeps, before bed and not after 12 am.

I think it was a combination of being so busy through the day and the new surroundings that the day feeds really slowed down fairly easily. So now he feeds after his afternoon nap, before bed, he still wakes 1 or 2 times a night and cluster feeds from dawn until we get up so that is only 5 times a day now instead of the 12 - 8 times. There are some days he won't even feed after his nap or before bed.

The moral of my story is that I thought DS was weaning at the same age and he has cut down on feeds but he still loves his booby I had cut out the 12 am feed but it is back again arhhh but that is for another thread
