I saw the doctor today...

And i didn't get my results back from my NT scan but i got the report and i have just read it, the doctor didn't go through with it with me just printed it out for me to read myself.

This is what it says:

TA ultrasound shows normal intrauterine pregnancy with single sac and fetus, dimensions of which are consistent with gestational age of 12.5 weeks +/- 1 week, which corresponds to dates. Fetus appears normal with heart rate 155bpm, CRL 60mm and nuchual translucency 1.7mm. Liquor volume is normal. Placenta is posteria. No maternal abnormality seen. The combined first trimester trisomy risk assessment will be sent as soon as available.

My first question is whats CRL and is 60mm normal? and is 1.7mm normal?

The doctor did explain that that measurement is matched up with my blood work thats how they work out if its normal or not but does that seem normal.

I also found out that i have never had Chicken Pox so am worried about that. I have been told to stay away from anyone who may have it which is hard when they are most contagious before they get spots. So i might just stay home

CRL is length of bub. 1.7 NT is great. Thats a low risk of down sydrome. Looks like bub is doing fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, those measurements sound perfectly normal (CRL is head to bum)

i cant help you too much but when i was pregnant with Bellah when we had out ultrasound done the nuchal fold measurement (NT) came back at 4.2mm if it is above 3.5mm that is when futher testing is required for down syndrome and heart problems. We got told with this measurement she was guarenteed to be down syndrome however she was born without it and with no heart problems so far, everything is just statistics but from what you have said your measurements are fantastic!

CRL is crown to rump length, so head to bum
1.7 is normal on its own - did you have blood test done before the scan that they are using as a combined test?

MrsS- Thanks for that, i didn't know what they classed as 'not normal' and i'm so happy to hear that your little girl is fine I'm sure you were really concerned to hear that she may have it.

ETA- i had the blood test 2 days later which may be why its taking so long. The pathology was booked out when i went for my scan and they werent free for 2 days.

I had to have my bloods done 3 days prior to the scan so i agree thats probably what holding you up there miss!

Ive never had the chicken pox either!

I was convinced that i had it. Because when i was like 5 or 6 i got really sick and covered in red spots, and my little sister got them too as we were so close and i remember us being in the bath together soaking in that stuff they use for chicken pox (sorry baby brain).

Maybe it was the measels or something? (ive not had either i dont know if you break out with both?)

I had the chicken pox when i was little but my blood tests showed that I am not immune to it. It's common for people to not develop an immunity to it

You could have had it but only have a very low level of immunity built up - they can only test for your current immunity level and most people if they have had it are fine - but some just don't develop the antibodies to it very well. At least you know so can try and avoid it.

Hello,

I'm going for my NT scan when I'm at 12 wks 1 day. Just wondering, your gestational age is 12.5 wks but you're actually 14 wks pregnant. I'm confused as to what they say about the risk of miscarriage going down at 12 wks, does this mean 12 wks pregnanant or 12 wks gestational age, which would mean 14 wks. Sorry if I sound confusing!
