Will more day feeds = less night feeds?

DS (11 weeks) has started waking up every 2-3 hours at night for a feed when previously he was going a 4 to 5 hours stretch and then every 3ish. Nothing has changed for him and he sleeps well during the day and feeds well every 3 hours during the day. He has great weight gain and lots of lovely nappies. He only takes one side but is always offered both. So I am wondering if I feed him every 2.5 hours during the day, will he go longer at night? I am really not trying to push him but puzzled as he went for about 8 weeks having a good stretch at night. Any thought?
PS I know he will start to sleep longer soon enough but any extra sleep will help!

Possibly, but no necessarily. Hah, so helpful.

DS was the same at that age with increased feeding all of a sudden. It didn't last long though.

I'd say he's building up your supply for Wonder Week 12. My DD was sleeping through at 10 weeks but she had 3 nights in a row during her 12th week where she woke at 3am for a feed.

Feeding more during the day definitely helped our DD to sleep longer at night. We had lots of breastfeeding issues so we had to give her top ups after every feed until about 8 weeks. She got into a good night routine very early on and was doing a 5 hour stretch for the first half of her night from about 4 weeks.

It may not work for all babies but I honestly think there is some truth to the theory. It's worth a shot anyway. Good luck!
