honey
Why do you have to stop BFing while doing ivf?
I have to stop soon to go back to IVF and I think I just need my hand held.
honey
Why do you have to stop BFing while doing ivf?
Thanks Maz
I have to do a medicated cycle and prolactin inteferes with it (and some ivf drugs are not good, though on that score I'm not 100% since I don't know exactly what I'll be on)
anyway, I'm just sad.
could you prehaps still express while your taking them so that you can BF once yourve stopped taking the drugs?
Sorry babe I have no idea (can you tell)

Yeah, but that's ok.
I really appreciate it anyway![]()
Oh honey.
Thinking of you.
an offer of virtual handholding is always available from me if you need it
Aww MarcellusThe only comfort I can think of is to say, look what you will get as a result
Maz, it's because prolactin can inhibit implantation, the reason why breastfeeding can be a contraceptive in the first six months because the levels are so high. Most clinics will make sure you're not breastfeeding & some will do BTs to make sure your prolactin levels have dropped to normal levels before allowing you to do a cycle again. They say it's to give you the best possible chance at conceiving which is technically true, but I believe it's probably more likely to make sure their success rates have the best chance IYKWIM.
Thanks Sarah...I totally understand now...god how hard![]()
Huge hugs MarceyIt is going to be a really big thing for you to do. I'll be there to virtually hand-hold along the way with this. A is such a gorgeous child, you & your boobs have done that. Amazing! Now the path is going to change for you and at the end, you'll have a brand new bubba to feed, sustain, nurture & comfort with your milk.
Just like you have done with A. It's only really a kinda/sorta end, and a new beginning too.
Oh how for you sweety! Sending heaps of![]()

Bigit can be so hard making these kinds of decisions
I really like how Sarah put it, beautiful
You have done an awesome job, every drop of BM is a priceless gift that your little one will gain from for the rest of their lives
Having a cry is completely fine, it is such a special bond to BF, and for it to be nearing an end can be a very emotional time. Just take every feed as if it is the last and it makes it easier, as each extra feed is super special xxoo
Totally get it hun
