As title suggests I'm after some ideas for a 1st birthday present for a friend's son.
I was thinking of books but he has soooo many - can't think of anything else!!
Any ideas much appreciated.
I found a website that made wooden toys and they come with a 'birth certificate' , i bought a wooden car for a boy @ MG, another one of the boys 2 of us put in and got this wooden train that is actually MADE of building blocks.
Otherwise i found great things DD got were:
wooden puzzles (you can get ones with their name made)
crayons
wooden blocks
Mega Blocks
Jumbo chalk
Plastic seashell pool thing but we made it a sandpit.
Thankyou both for your replies. Unfortunately I think I've left it too late to order anything online, though those wooden toys sound really nice.
Maybe crayons will be the way to go. I've seen some of those chunky, easy to hold ones in the ELC shop.
Thanks!!
I know it sounds boring but clothes are always appreciated by parents, especially as it sounds like he has way too many toys already. Maybe a DVD of the Wiggles, Elmo or Thomas?? Or you could ask the parents what he needs??
For my DS's first birthday he got a fold out couch, a clam shell thing, books and a FP learning house. All those things he was able to use straight away and still does a year later.
My (almost) 1 yo (ok he's still got 2.5 months to go ........LOL) LOVES pushing cars around already, and anything that makes music - so I definately agree with the musical instruments idea
I had the same dilemma with my friends daughter's 1st birthday and I decided on clothes as I know it's not something they like to spend too much money on themselves as their DD grows out of them so quickly. And then just bought a small toy to go along with it.
The best presents my DS got for his first birthday were
a toddler swing (goes out the back on the verandah, he looooves it!)
clothes (when dont they come in handy!)
a toy cat with wheels that you push a button on its back and it rolls along waving its tail (I think its fisher price??) he has so much fun with it, chasing it around the kitchen and giggling hysterically!
also got a "cars" book that has buttons to push that make lots of noises, anything that makes noises or has buttons to push is a hit!
My DS was given a Fisher Price phone on wheels that he can pull along. It has songs, says numbers and other things and has flaps and buttons. He loves it and is still playing with it three months later!
