Im thinking of applying for a job but have a dilemma, well two
Job security/anxiety
Its in my current field, and more than a 10% pay increase, woking in the same sub specialty and on software Im very familiar with.
So id be devestated if I didnt at least get an interview.
Im scared to apply. Ive never applied for a job when Ive had a secure one before, Ive only changed jobs as a rsult of being outsourced or made redundant.
its the 6months probation that i worry about, not that Im concerned about my performance, but because they really dont need a reason, and with the current economy, its last in first out when they want to offload staff, and probation gives them an easy out.
Im anxious about this happening, id be out of my confort zone job security wise.
CV Question
How far back do I go?
Ive worked for 3 companies in 10 years, 4 jobs in total as 2 different roles at the last company.
The most recent job prior to my current role sounds extrememly similar to what this new role is, so the most relevant. But the other roles show that my skills are diverse which is also a key selection area for this role.
Can I put all of them down but just go in to less detail on the oldest role?
I go back approx 10 years in my cv, I also modify my cv for each job I go for - to make it more relevant to the job I'm applying for. Of course all of my applications are for internal government jobs, so I know what they're looking for & how to best write "govt speak".
