I've decided to get back into reading (again!) and need suggestions!
I LOVE reading Ancient Egypt novels and own the Ramses series by Christian Jacq - and have a couple more.. But am looking for some by different authors.
I also like a good comedic book and some with magical creatures/witches/wizards/vampires (don't mention the Twilight series, I've already finished that series twice!)
Really, I've got ALOT of types I like
So, anyone got any suggestions for books for me? I'm planning on heading down to the local library at lunchtime and signing up and getting a couple books out to read (I've bought a whole heap but just can't really find the 'want' to read them because they aren't really in my genre) then popping into my ILs place, dropping DS off (they haven't seen him for almost 2 weeks now) and spending either an hour there reading or coming home and reading for an hour or two before picking DH and DS up
If you haven't already read "The Host" also by Stephanie Meyers, It is about aliens invading human bodies. Sounds bad, but it really is pretty good.
John Grogan - Marley and Me.....Fantastic.
Diana Galbaldon - Cross Stitch Series. It is about an English lady holidaying in Scotland in about 1947, where she finds and goes through a stone circle and is transported back 200 years. There are 7 books so far in this series, so if you can get over how the author writes, it isnt actually a bad series.
Kathy Reichs - Writes about Forensic Anthropologist Dr Temperence Brennan. Crime series
Patricia Cornwall - Writes about Forensic Anthropologist Dr Kay Scarpetta. Crime series
John Marsden - The Tomorrow Series. Initially written for high school kids, but i found that adults will enjoy it as well
Matthew Reilly - His last three books - Seven Ancient Wonders, Six Sacred Stones, Five Greatest Warriors - Would be right up you alley - It involves Pyramids, and ancient stories. His other books are really good too!
I hope this has given you some ideas. I cant think of any more of the top of my head.
Thanks heaps Lisa! I never ended up going to the library, but we're out and about all day today so I'm going to pop into the library on the way home and sign up and pick up a couple of books - I'm definitely looking into the Matthew Reilly ones, they really do sound like my kind of book
