Questions for two nights away from bub a week

I'm trying to get some sort of pumping routine going since I'm now at TAFE Mon and Tue night. I have to leave around 4.45 and am back around 9.30 so I miss bub's last feed/s of the day and his bedtime. At home he may jump on and off the boob a few times between those hours before finally falling asleep. And then wake for a feed about 10.30 sometimes. Then goes through until 4ish or so lately!

I've left 150mls with my friend for each night and he's taken all of it and it's knocked him out enough so that he slept both nights through till 3.30 am! But pumping 300mls a week is a lot I think for me while also feeding him! I've been trying to pump in the morning but some days only get 50mls. My boobs are so full after college and hell by 3.30am so should I pump at 9.30 when I get home and hope he continues not to wake at 10.30 and need a feed? Or pump after his 3.30 feed? Or keep doing just 50mls every morning?

I would pump when you get home from tafe - just don't freeze it until the next morning in case you do need some overnight.

    Hi,

Express after you get home from TAFE. You will get a good volume for your next TAFE night and your breasts will thank you for it. Stash it in the freezer. If your baby wakes up, even 1/2 and hour later you will have made plenty more milk for him - no need to use what you just expressed

You'll probably find that if you pump at 9:30 and he wakes at 10:30 for a feed as he normally does in a day or two your breast have adjusted and you'll have a completely full feed for him an hour later.

Congrats on going back to TAFE and good on you for continuing to provide your DS with your bm while you are away from him!
