Getting rid of ants and fleas!!

As the title suggests, I have had a bit of a problem with ants, teeny tiny little ones that will sniff out the most minute peice of food or drink dropped on the floor. I have tried putting ant-rid in the corners and crevices, and being super clean and mopping/vaccing the floor more often, it doesn't seem to have worked. I am still finding them around the place.

And OMG!!! Today I found a flea on DS. I have no idea where it has come from, we have no pets and live in a 3rd floor unit. I don't think the neighbours have pets that carry fleas. I had my brother and his family here last night, and they have dogs, maybe they brought the fleas with them, lol! (Wouldn't surprise me!!) I haven't ever seen any others around so maybe that's how it got in....ICK!!!!

How do I get rid of these pests? I don't want the fleas propegating!! I'm not so worried about the ants, but would like to get rid of them!!

for the fleas you can get flea bombs from the supermarket. make sure you have a day outing planned! but they do work.

as for ants. hmm they are trickier. we used to get this honey concotion that was in very small tubs and the ants would be attracted to the sweetness and carry it back to the nest and feed the queen...soon meaning no more ants. but for the life of me i cant remember what they are called! arrghh! hopefully another BBer has a better memory...

I think Mum uses diluted eucalyptus oil in a spray bottle. She sprays the dogs outside bedding and it apparently kills fleas. Toxic for cats though...

I'm subscribing for the ants too. They're driving me maaaaad. If there's a natural remedy then even better. I remember reading that lemon oil keeps spiders and some other insects at bay, but don't know if it works on the ants?

OMG....we have fleas too!! We do have a dog, but its only been the last week they've decided they're going to take over!
We have a flea bomb, but I'm holding onto it for now. They aren't infesting inside just yet. We had a couple of days of them in the loungeroom, but haven't had any in the last 2 or 3 days.
I washed the dog a few days ago, then tipped a mixture of water & tea tree oil over her & left it to dry. My mum uses tea tree for fleas on her dogs, so I'm guessing it'll work. I also sprayed some around the loungeroom floor a few times & as I said, haven't seen them in a few days.

DH bought some ant, flea & tick sand stuff for outside. We'll spread that, then maybe bomb inside after if we need to. Its ticks & fleas we have. Ants aren't so bad... yet!

We flea bombed our new house just over a week ago, we just brought the 3 pack and put them in the largest rooms and left the doors opened, since then we have vaccy'd every day and its seemed to have worked, we were able to re enter the house after 2 hours and turn our power back on after 30mins of airing the house out.

Make sure you double check that the one you buy kills the eggs as well or it may be pointless using it!

we had a flea infestation at our house a few years ago. We bought 3 flea bombs and let them off and left the house for the day with the wondow wide open. The fleas never ever came back.

As for the ants, GGRRRRRR we have the same problem, just get rid of one lot and a few days later another lot comes in! I am planning on getting the ant sand to put on their ant line outside the front door, hopefully that will stop them a bit longer.

I bought a pack of little round plastic things that the ant eat and then take back to the queen, they worked a treat in the spare room, I should get some more for the kitchen.
