Hmmm, not too sure about lollypops but can you make dora choccys?
Hi all,
I am looking to buy some lollipop plastic mould trays in the shape of Dora the Explora's body (as DD will be having a Dora the Explora themed 4th birthday party in May) ...
But i have no idea how to make lollipops (recipe, how to set, etc ...) ... so can anyone help me with how to make lollipops
I'm hoping to make the lollipops in either Orange or Pink (Dora colours).
TIA for any suggestions![]()

I found this recipe, never tried it so cant be held responsible!!
Lollipops are an old-fashioned sugar candy favorite. You can vary the colors or flavors to suit your tastes. Make sure you have an accurate candy thermometer for this recipe!
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients:
•1 cup sugar
•½ cup light corn syrup
•¼ cup water
•¾ tsp extract of your choice (vanilla, mint, cinnamon, coconut, etc)
•Food coloring (optional)
•Lollipop molds and sticks
Preparation:
1. Prepare your molds by spraying them with nonstick cooking spray and inserting lollipop sticks into the molds.
2. Combine the sugar, corn syrup, and water in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Insert the candy thermometer and stir until sugar dissolves.
3. Allow to boil, without stirring, until candy reaches 295 degrees (hard-crack stage).
4. Once the candy reaches 295, remove it from heat. Stir in the extract of your choice, and, if desired, food coloring.
5. Spoon the candy into the mold cavities, making sure to cover the back of the stick.
6. Allow to cool completely and remove once hardened.

Rachel Allen made some the other night on her show....see if I can find them. They looked gorgeous.
I was thinking of toffee as well.
Whenever I've made toffee they're an orangey colour to start with, adding in some food colouring would make them great![]()
I think if you use white vinegar the toffee will come out clear.
Here it is....

Use a sugar thermometer to make Rachel Allen’s impressive sweet treats
Speckled lollipops: Instead of or in addition to the cordial, add 1 tablespoon of candied sprinkles, such as hundreds and thousands or edible glitter, as soon as the syrup is taken off the heat.
Ingredients
450g caster sugar
1/8 tsp cream of tartar
4 tbsp undiluted fruit cordial, such as blackcurrant, orange or lime
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Method
1. Arrange 30–35 lollipop sticks spaced apart on several large, non-stick baking sheets.
2. Place the sugar, cream of tartar and 150ml water in a heavy-based saucepan on a medium heat and bring to a gentle boil while stirring all the time. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 20–25 minutes without stirring, until the temperature on a sugar thermometer dipped into the mixture reads 143°C.
3. Stir in the cordial just before the syrup reaches this temperature (after 15–20 minutes). The mixture will bubble up, so be careful as it is very hot.
4. Once the correct temperature has been reached, remove the pan from the heat and, working quickly, spoon small pools of the syrup onto one end of each lollipop stick and allow to set for about 5 minutes, until hardened.
5. If you wish, wrap the lollipops in cellophane and tie with string as soon as they have cooled and hardened, to prevent them from absorbing moisture. Store them in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to a week.
Nice one Kim, sounds MUCH easier than the recipe I posted!!
