    Any Robin Hobb fans?

Have you read the latest from her "The Dragon Keeper"? What did you think? I would love to hear what you thought about it.

I haven't read anything by Robin Hobb, but a friend has lent me a few, a series I think. I haven't been able to get into them yet...

    Good writer?

Fantastic writer. I found her hard to get into - I don't know why now but I can remember wondering what people were raving on about. When I finally did read her stuff, WOW!!! I loved it. I think I've read The Royal Assasin series, Live Ship Traders series & Tawny Man series about 3 times each!

I really didn't like her Soldier Son series at all, didn't finish the first book, so if they are the ones you've been given, they are not her best work.

I love Robin Hobb! Well, her first three series anyway. I recall reading the soldier son trilogy, but had completely forgotten who they were writen by. Certainly not at the same standard as the liveship traders, etc.

Didn't know there was a new book out - have been avoiding bookshops lately due to lack of funds... Another trilogy? I usually wait until they are all out before getting started - just not a fan of sitting around waiting for the next book!

Only 2 books in this one and the second one isn't out yet. Sometime this year I think.

It's The Rain Wild Chronicles - first one is "The Dragon Keeper" I liked it. It explores different classes / worlds within Bingtown & the Rain Wilds but it wasn't what I was expecting IYKWIM? I wanted more about Malta & Reyn & Seldon but they are entirely new characters, even Tintaglia the dragon is mostly absent. Its about the new dragons, and they people who help them.

oh oh oh ME!!!! I LOVE RH!!!! I am waiting for the next one in the series to come out before I start the Rain Wilds one ... can't wait lol

I liked the soldier son series, it's just a very different feel to the Farseer ones.

She also writes under the name Megan Lindholme (I might have spelt that wrong though)

The ones my friend gave me are by
"Megan Lindholm (who also writes as Robin Hobb)"
    Harpy's Flight
    The Windsingers
    The Limbreth Gate
    Luck Of The Wheels

    Anyone read these?

I have been reading Trudi Canavan's books, and my friend tells me these are just as good...

Do you know I have never read her work as Megan Lindolm...I'll have to do a trip to the library & see if any of those books are available.

I have been waiting for someone on here to ask this question. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE ROBIN HOBB!! :-) i am actually on the last book of the tawny man trilogy at the moment (already read it once before). i friggin love fitz LOL

yep, i did read the first novel in the new series and i love it too, after i read that i went back to the liveships (3rd time through) and then had to keep going with tawny man again. by the time i have finished that it should be about the time for the release in march of the second novel. i think it is called dragon haven. having gone back to the tawny man series i am sure fitz and the fool are going to have to make an appearance in this one! (i can live in hope anyway)

i read the fareseer trilogy probably about 8 years ago now, going through the books again i found i was surprised at how much i had forgotten or skimmed over and it makes them all the more better. but more than that, i can believe what kind of impact all the twists and turns etc still have on me.. i know what tragedies are going to happen but i still tear up! LOL

in regards to the solidiers son, i recommend you push through cause they are still really good books. its hard to get your head around them cause they are so differnt from reading about the skill and the wit etc. they are still awesome books though.

and yeah, megan lindholm books are in my collection too. wolfs brother is great, they are all great. MASSIVE FAN!

yep i have all of those sconeonamission.. they are good. not as good as my ol fitzy boy though. LOL

Nah, Ftiz & the Fool are long gone I reckon. Fitz got his life back & a happy retirement with Molly & her kids. The Fool - well? who knows where he was off to. It would be lovely to see him again, but I think he has edged the world onto the right path for this time by bringing dragons back.

yeah but there are still a heap of unanswered questions.. like whats with the fool and the rooster crown? and dont ya think the skill is linked to dragons for some reason? there was always that 'essence' who used to drag the pieces of fitz back together and send him back to himself when the skill current ripped him apart. i think that may have been a dragon...

but you are right fitz and mollys tale ended niceley so maybe instead of fitz it may be Prince Dutiful who comes into these books? even if it is just a few paragraphs but not fully into the plot.

and also.. there was just a bit that i read in the tawny man that lead me to believe that fitz and the fool were known by the dragons in past lives or past times so maybe they will come back into it for some reason linked to that. LOL just re-reading through what i just wrote sounds like crazy talk... but you never know.

the other thing i was thinking was when they get to kelsingra i reckon the deformed dragons will drink from the silver water and it will fix em up. tintaglia will have to play more of a role in the next book.. surely!

whoopsy.. just finished reading the last in the tawny man trilogy and ummm.. yeah the rooster crown is explained ( i forgot about that) and i guess the skill is kinda explained too... but i still reckon (hope) some of those characters will come into it, even just in passing.. Nettle seems to have a pretty close relationship with Tintaglia. so who knows. :-)
