Talking Something I never thought to mention.

Was reading a BLS thread and was reminded of this.

I spent a few weeks in hospital with my son back in late 2008.

We were practising BLS with DS and in the hospital I had decided not to order for him. The staff wondered what he would eat and I said I would share. The next day they let me order a child sized 'adult meal' for my DS.

Over the length of my stay they would observe his eating patterns, and ask me questions about why we had chosen it. About half way through, the unit leader decided to introduce BLS as a permanent thing to their unit - [pureed] baby food would be provided upon request if parents did not follow BLS naturally, but they were encouraged to give it a go. I thought it was amazing.... I educated a hospital unit leader and MCHN about the benefits and reasons to do BLS and they introduced it to their unit...

I wonder if they still do it? Be intersting to know. Just wanted to share

Thats excellent!! So unusual for a M&B unit to learn from the mums, they are usually too set in their ways!!

my boytwin was in hospital when he was 7 months and I was doing BLS. I had to leave him for a while which coincided with a meal time so I left instructions not to feed him puree and mush, and to pick the healthiest thing from the menu and give that to him.

When I came back they were all so excited, he had eaten cauliflower cheese and something else, but they were so amazed he had eaten it, and enjoyed it, and done it all himself! Sometimes it just takes one baby to re-educate a whole ward

You should contact the hospital and find out how they are going. Well done you
