Two weeks ago I started eating a lot better, cut out sugary drinks (juice and softdrink), I was drinking waaaay too much of the stuff, and cut out chocolate (which I love ) and a few other naughty things I was eating. I'm still eating well and just eating healthy foods and also eating a bit less than I was. Only eating when I'm really hungry.
I'm so proud of myself for doing this for 2 weeks!!! I've already lost 5kg seems too easy.....
My question is, could this drop in weight loss which is a fair amount in 2 weeks, affect my milk supply? DD is still having a few feeds during the day but mainly at night she stocks up (unfortunately ).....
Could this weight loss result in her weaning herself? I guess I just don't want to affect my milk supply incase she weans herself.... however in saying that, I know that it's demand and supply so the more she takes the more I make..... so.... as long as I'm being sensible and eating enough, then all is good right?
I guess I just need reassurance that I'm not losing too much weight too soon??
The weight seems to be dropping off me and it never has before like this.... it must be due to the breastfeeding and my metabolism because of that?
eta - I know she is past 12mths now and will wean when she's ready to, however she still doesn't eat as much food as i'd like her to some days so I feel she still really needs this BM it's still a HUGE part of her diet for her.
I haven't tried to lose weight until now as before I was too worried it would affect our BF journey and milk supply as we had so many probs establishing it in the beginning.....
Shanti hun, losing weight while bfing won't affect your milk. The only concern with dieting during bfing is making sure that you are getting enough nutrients for yourself. If you are doing that then you are fine.
Great work on losing the weight. I am sure you are feeling fantastic!!
We in the west consume too many calories generally. You don't need to eat vast amounts to breastfeed. It's really controlled by how much you use your breast - the more you feed the more you make. That simple. And the system works! When you follow a normal diet you dig into those fat stores, which means its generally easier to lose weight
Yep, should be fine!! You sound like you're doing great, eating all the right things and the weight is coming off easily!! Well done!! I think my weight is stable atm but I was losing weight for ages I think due to breastfeeding and it never effected my milk supply. I found the only thing that would have an impact was the amount of water I had. The more I drink, the more milk I make. So just keep up the water intake.
