Looking at booking flights to the goldy in June and Tigger airways is the cheapest, then jetstar after that.

Which one would you pick and why?

Ive heard bad things about tigger and im a little scared to go with them cause of it

my personal choice is that I wouldn't fly tiger with my kids only because of all the horror stories I've heard & seen on that show airways!
If it was me flying alone (or with another adult) I would possibly fly tiger if it was a large price difference, like maybe saving over $30 EACH way???
My preference is always virgin blue. I love them & they're usuallt cheap anyway. I've flown jetstar a couple of times, cant really complain. I haven't flown qantas for YEARS only because I always book virgin, they're usually alot cheaper than qantas.

Is it a large saving hun??

Sorry I wasn't really any help at all!!!

Just for a relatively short domestic flight I'd go with the cheapest. I haven't heard anything bad about Tiger... well nothing really bad I guess because I can't remember if I have or havent!

we flew tiger to the GC a few weeks ago, i cant complain!
ok so the terminals were a fair hike from the main terminals and it was ****ing down rain and the shelter wasnt great, but for a short flight its worth the cheapness!
they were a little late but nothing major, i think it was only 20 mins or so each time.

They dnt have tv's or anything like that, but they come down with the snack and drink trolley, fairly well priced.
If ur taking the kiddo's just make sure they have something to do, we took the usual colouring book ect.

My poor dad booked a flight with Tiger and he accidently selected the day before he wanted to leave he saw the mistake as soon as he printed out the confirmation and then called them to get it changed. His experience with customer service was horrible, firstly they don't have a 1800 or 1300 number to call it's a Melbourne number I think, then they couldn't speak English properly and obviously had no logic because it would have been easy enough for them to just fix it in the name of 'good' customer service but refused to do so. My poor dad just excepted that and said oh well I guess I wont be making the trip after all and that money and tickets would be wasted or he would have to purchase another one way ticket to leave on the day he wanted to... SO he ends up having to do that and then TIGER send him an email a few days before the departure date saying that 'they' are changing the flight dates to the following weekend!!! Well the following weekend would have meant that he missed the event he was traveling for and when he called to see if he could get a different flight they rudely told him that he couldn't and that they wouldn't refund him and that he would have a 'credit' with them... Like you would ever want to fly with them again after all that. So than my dad had to pay high prices with another air line trying to get flights at short notice.

Moral of the story, I've heard bad stuff about Jetstar too but at least they have some customer service skills.

Both airlines will not let you board if you are late to check in so be on time!

I had friends who were booked with Tiger and they got a text message about 4 hours before they were supposed to be at the airport asking them to call a number (they can't even be bothered calling you - you have to call them) and my friends were then told that the flights had been cancelled and that they couldn't have a refund - the "best" that Tiger could do was to cost of their flight credited to another airline for travel on the same day - which they had to do as they had a wedding to get to.

I think, given the importance of your trip it would be worth paying a little bit extra and avoiding Tiger.

I've flown both (Tiger - GC to Melb and JetStar - Bris to Melb) and never had an issue with either.

Tiger do seem to have stricter book in / cut off times, but as long as you get there with plenty of time I doubt you'll have an issue.

Service is fine with both... basic and you pay for what you need.

I think it's definitely a 'luck of the draw' kind of situation... I've had bad experiences with JetStar, Virgin and Qantas...

I would pick the cheapest... you're only on the plane for 2 hours... what could possibly go wrong

I would avoid Tiger at all costs....long story - too long for me to go into now but save yourself the hassle in the long run. Pay the extra $ for peace of mind and go with Jet Star or anyone besides Tiger

    I have flown with:\
Quantas to LA - they are THE worst airline to fly with.. long storey!!
    Jetstar - Great!
    Tiger to Tassie - awesome!
Air NZ to NZ - awesome!
Virgin to QLD & Fiji - awesome!

I would choose the cheepest - there ate a lot of horror storeys and that TV show = but they only show the bad stuf.. never the good stuff.

I have flown with some seriously dodgey airlines around the world, and tiger would have to be up there with the best of them, however for a recent trip to alice springs they were one third of the price of the next least expensive airline.
THeir customer service sucks, they do fly out of Tullamarine but it's from a shed - not the main terminal, we had to wait 6hours in this shed with 2 small children as the flight was delayed....
however, for the price, yes it was an inconvenience, but the plane is the same - it still flies to the destination.

As an aside DH was going to try and get on the show as they had the crews there....I told him if he wanted an instant divorce he could go right ahead....

I recently flew from Adelaide to tazzie and return tiger and not a single issue with the flight or time.

    Even expensive airways have delays...

and well in all honestly they have a check in time for a reason, you know you have to be there by then so if your not sorry but its not the airlines fault. Get there earlier, simple. Why should a whole plane have to wait on you?

I cant use them (they dont go to Townsville not enough empty sheds around for them to use, and it is a busy airport with the RAAF) but I would join Velocity Rewards (free to join) because they often do member discounts on Virgin.
