My Mum and I used to do WW together but it got to expensive for us both ($17.95 per meeting!) - so she has heard about a TOWN meeting in our area that only costs $5 a meeting so we are heading along Thursday.
I've been to a TOWN club but didn't really like it. The one I went to was mainly full of seniors who use it as their weekly social outing. Not much weight was lost there, there was very little talk about weight loss in the group therapy sessions and they had way too many silly rules for my liking.
A friend of mine goes to one in a different area from me and loves it. They are all of similar age and have formed a really tight bond with eachother, they go walking together and support each other. I guess it all depends on the group dynamic.
I'd be interested to hear how the one you go to is different. Good luck
My friend goes to a TOWN meeting and she loves it. She is going great guns on her weight loss. She goes with 2 other people and are the youngest there by about 20 years. But she finds the meetings very supportive and they focus on ways to help with weight loss.
I agree for $5 you might as well try it. You don't have to go back if you dont like it
Yeah Donna I agree.
My mums bestie goes and she has lost 11 kgs since xmas so its working for her! She said that there are alot of mums that go and take their kids so that even better as I can take DD.
I went to one locally and lost 23 kilos, this was about 5 years ago.
Like Tinks there were a lot of older people at my meeting who were there for the social aspect, but the younger ones who were there (and some of the older ones) were really focussed.
I think it also helped to motivate the member who had been there longer.
They did have some weird rules, like the person who gained the most weight had to take aoty pig home..that one went out the door though..
