    does gripe water cause constipation?

hi, i have a 16 day old little girl, who got nasty nasty wind nad tummy pain when i was readmitted to hossy and on iv antibiotics for an infected c-section site. We put her on gripe water with maybe 3 bottles of ebm a day and now she is in pain and hasn't poo'd since 3 am yesterday when prior to that she was multiple times a day when she farted she well followed through.... we have also eliminated lactose out of our diets... but im worried gripe water taking away all her wind has taken away her pooing mechanism??

Personally I wouldn't be using gripe water because it contains alchohol. Maybe try infants friend? I don't know if the gripe water could cause that problem, but I would say she's not pooing because she is coming up to her 3wk growth spurt and often babies wont poo, or wont poo as often during this time as their tiny bodies absorb as much nutrients as they can.

My wee one had a whole week of little to no poo around that time and had a massive growth spurt shortly after. Another suggestion if you can't get infant's friend is infacol. Also alcohol and sugar free

gripe water is now alcohol free... Well at least the one I used was... It is clearly stated on the bottle...
I swore by it with DS1, he was BF and never had issues with constipation... He was very gassy and had some reflux and the grip water did help him with this.
