I have a 2kg chicken which I've defrosted and want to cook for tonight. I know that I need to allow 30 minutes per 500g to cook it (in the oven), but can you give me some tips on seasoning and basting the chicken. I want it to have a nice flavour to it and I don't want it to dry out.

We always do our roast chicken from one of the Jamie Oliver's cook books.. and the recipe is called Jamies perfect roast chicken, and it has always turned out great. It is on his website if you have a look, here is the link (mods feel free to remove if not allowed)
