twin side by sidestrollers not joggers, maclaren,steelcraft, valco, childcare ???

i've heard maclaren are the lightest and wonder how others compare or compare with each other advantages or disadvantages of side by side strollers that fold like umbrella strollers, not joggers or ones with one in front of the other.

You get what you pay for with doubles. The childcare brand one I had when DD2 was born did not last.

i've also since been told that maclaren and steelcraft have doubles that the seats can go right back for new borns.

i'm not sure why the maclaren is so much more expensive though than steelcrafta few hundred dollars difference.

I've heard childcare is heavier but havent had that confirmed, and you've said it doesnt last.

what about valco.?

so would i stil to maclaren because its one of the most expensive or is steelcraft also fabulous.

Maclaren make an awesome quality stroller, nothing even comes close to how good they are IMO . You'd never regret buying one.

Steelcraft are good quality, but I have no experience with their twin prams.

My sister had a Valco twin stroller and she absolutely loved it. It was lightweight, easy to use and good quality.

I'd be interested in this - I'm going for the Steelcraft purely because the Maclaren is out of our budget. The Steelcraft will apparently still fit through a standard doorway.

Plus I don't care if it gets run into the ground - this baby will be our last baby.

We have a Childcare single stroller and we've had trouble with one of the nuts continually falling off (and then it would collapse in on itself unless we were very careful to thread the screw through the hole). It got nicknamed "the Deathtrap" . The nuts were an awkward size and we had to go to a specialist tradie supplies hardware store to get replacements.

When it is in proper working order, it certainly does the job but because of the nut issues we won't get the Childcare double stroller. A friend of mine had the exact same single Childcare stroller and never had any trouble with it at all but after our experience I don't trust the quality control.

I bought a valco double from a Mum with twins for a mate with twins. The first mum loved it, it survived 4 years with them. she loved how light it was and how it fit wherever she wanted to go.

I pulled it apart and washed everything and it came up tops. the second mum wasn't so keen when her bubs were little but loves it now.

They may be designed better for littlies now.

I have a childcare side by side - had it for a few years now. Does the job, but its heavy - heavy to load in the car. Also find the steering (im a steer with one hand kinda mum......latte in the other LOL) is incredibly hard....

Im eyeing the side by side peg pegero ATM.....

don't be put off by the name brand but Baby Jogger does a twin side by side pram, you can get them cheaper if you buy them from a place like My strollers in the US they have other brands on that website too. Shipping is exxy but it might still work out much cheaper. My pram was saved close to $300.

McLaren side by side stroller has been great for us. Lightweight, and able to be used from birth. Mainly used for when getting about with car for appointments and going to shops. Fits very well through most doorways.
Have been given a big heavy Emmaljunga which is great for going for walks as it's like a big bed. McLaren not as comfy, and more suited as a means of getting two little ones from A to B. Emmaljunga too heavy and too wide for taking in car for appointments and shopping.

Used from birth with a 2 year old and a newborn. Seat goes almost completely flat, good enough IMO. Folds down umbrella style, i am weak and can lift this in to the boot - from memory its about 8kg. My MIL is 5 foot and tiny and she can lift it too. That was the main selling point for me.

Fits through ALL standard doors, BUT need to go through the disabled aisle at SOME checkouts at supermarkets, i've found some are not as wide as others, it varies from store to store, even same brand stores have different sized aisles. But its not an issue because i don't do a big shop with the stroller so use express aisle.

For its size has decent size under mesh baskets, good functional sun hoods with plastic window optional. Very easy to clean. I've been using it for almost 2 years now and still in excellent condition. I'll probably get a good return selling it second hand. From memory was about $200. Well worth it.

My boys love sitting next to each other and its easy to steer. I've even done it one handed many times, just hold the middle arm! It's a tad heavy going up hills now that i have an almost 2 year old and almost 4 year old but i don't do that often. I really shouldn't have an almost 4 year old in it but its so great for convenience to keep them both "contained" for a quick shop. Because if my almost 4 year old gets to walk, the almost 2 year old wants to aswell and thats chaotic!
