    What's lurking in your fridge?

I cleaned out my fridge today and found a container stuffed in the back. I opened it and found it was full of mouldy, off spaghetti bolognaise I don't even know how long it had been there for.

It stunk the whole house out so badly!!! I almost vomited!

Please make me feel better.....What's the worst thing you've found in your fridge????

Are you sure you want to know?

Mine is in desperate need of a clean out. I might need a respirator mask to do it.

I cleaned mine out the other day and found a block of cheese, yuck! I am ashamed to say that it had to have been there for a little while as I have been using slices lately and cannot remember the last time I bought a block.

My fridge is cleaned out regularly with a quick clean out after shopping every week, I have no idea how this slipped through, I must of overlooked it as it is in tupperware that I usually keep butter blocks in for baking.

Did mine the other week. Thankfully not too scary. Just depressing the amount of money that we have wasted on jar foods that did not get used up. So many jars of olives, pickled onions and sundried tomatoes.

a bag of zucchinis so ancient they had turned to brown liquid

A few years ago I went overseas for a month and returned to have my kitchen smelling like a rotting corpse. Turns out the thermostat has bust pretty much the day after I left and the entire contents of my freezer had been rotting for 5 weeks (there had been a heatwave too)!! Meat, fish you name it. In the words of Kenny, it was a smell that could outlast religion.

    Please don't judge me LMAO!

I once had a vegetable (probably a vegetable maybe I think...) that had somehow (probably walked seeing as I think it had grown legs by the time I got to it!) got itself stuck behind the crisper.

I kept smelling a funny smell when I opened the crisper, but had cleaned the fridge out and nope, nothing stinky... but still a smell....

Then... I found it... EWWWWWWWWW! I don't know how I missed it.

Honestly, I was hard pressed recognising what it was, let alone how long it had been there. How terrible!

Mine's ok at the moment, but I have been known to chuck out off/smelly leftovers/food - container and all - I deliberately don't use my Tupperware for leftovers for this very reason!

I got a bit of a thrill when I saw you had replied to this thread TD...only because I can't imagine you'd have anything gross in your fridge

    Hahah Leasha!

I've thrown out so many little jars of things that we've only used a few times and then they get pushed to the back of the fridge and forgotten about. Apple sauce was one of them...and oh boy did it look disgusting. Because of course I opened the jar to see if it still looked/smelt ok to use! Uh no...

Just the other week I threw out half a punnet of strawberries, I'd forgotten they were in there and were right at the back of the fridge...covered in all kinds of colourful mould!
