Thinning of newborn hair - is my baby normal?

    Hi,

My little one was born on the 03/03 with a full head of blackhair.

Over the last few days it has started to thin and become lighter, even my relatives who dont see her very often have noticed that it has done this in the last few days.

All her obs are fine, and she by all accounts is a healthy little girl, but I just wanted to know if other people have found this happens with their newborn?

My grandmother told me that my mother had a full head of black thick hair when she was born, and it all fell out and was replaced by thuin blonde hair. I was a blonde kid as was all my siblings.

Any advice would be greatly appriciated, thank heaps.

    It is so normal!

My DS had lots of hair when born and lost so much.....it was stuck all over his sheets and everywhere!

He now has the thickest head of hair of all time....

    No need to worry

It's completely normal for that to happen hun. My first baby had a head full or dark brown hair and by 6 weeks he'd worn a ring around his head LOL. Their hair will change a lot over the next two years. I've seen kids born dark, go light and go back to dark again. I've seen some babies that are born with dark hair end up being a dark blonde.

    totally normal!
DD1 was born with thick strawberry blonde hair, it all fell out and it took till she was about 18months to grow the the length it was when she was born!
DD2 was born with very fine blonde hair, she now has an old man hairdo, bald at the back and sides, with whispy bits ontop!!

DD didn't get any real hair until 12months, but DS' replaced really quick.

Your little one has such a pretty name, but can I ask how do you pronounce it? I'm sure I am probably saying it wrong to myself LOL

    You pronounce it Lee-See, Mee-ah.

Its a Finnish Name, Liisi is the pet name of Elizabet, my Mothers side of the family is Finnish so I wanted my daughter to have a Fin name

Totally totally normal. Both my babies were born with REALLY dark thick hair. Both of them had it fall out at about four months old (which I thought was weird because everyone said it usually happens really early!). Now DD1 has REALLY thick blonde hair and DD2 has really thick brown hair. DD1 went totally bald and it had all grown back and needed a hair cut by 12 months! Congratulations on your beautiful little girl

Yes, very, very normal. All of my children have lost a lot of hair after they werre born. They were all born dark - one has stayed dark, the others have turned blonde.
