Has anyone had a project home built?

    Hi guys

I am considering going down the project home path with a company that builds thousands of homes every year.

What I was wondering is - how much more than the quoted price did you end up spending?

Also, any other input or experiences would be much appreciated. Would you go that way again? Were they easy to commuicate with?

I'm interested in the replies here too! Hopefully some people have some insight.
I had a friend who built, not sure who, but i remember her saying they spent way more than originally planned, and somet things like blinds etc weren't part of it so they had no blinds until they could afford them.
I have no idea how any of it works, just started looking into all this now

It really depends on who you build with and what they have on offer. Some builders offer a complete package with things like flooring, curtains, landscaping etc all done, but it limits your choices. Our current builder doesn't even include storm water drainage in our costs.

I've heard as a rule of thumb it is good to give yourself an extra 30% to do a nice job of extras.

The homeone website is fantastic for asking questions like this. Huge user base building all around Australia with almost any builder that you care to ask about, and much better ideas on costs to get things done
