    Protein powder??

DS14 has been asking for a while now that he wants me to buy him protein powder to put in drinks. His friend uses this and DS tells me that it helps with the build up of muscles. This boy is also 14 and he has muscles on him that make him look like a body builder. To me it doesn't look right on a child, he does work out also but what is it in the protein powder that does this? I honestly don't know anything about protein powder and would just like to get as much information as I can first. TIA.

    Regards,
    Dianne

I'll have to chat with DH to get my facts right - but will come back, he is big on protein powders - he has about 4 different ones! Lol

Is your DS working out? If he's not lifting weights etc then it won't do him much good anyway.

I think I would just be encouraging him to eat well and work out - then when he's older start on supplements like protein powders etc.

Thanks hun, they are my thoughts exactly. He does have some weights at home that he uses but he says the protein powder helps in some way to keep the muscles bigger (if that makes sense), boys and their muscles, I think there are some girls he wants to impress

Find his stash of Muscle & Fitness magazines, all will be explained there

TBH I have it on good authority that protein powders generally are a waste of money. You can get just as much good extra lean protein by adding skim milk powder to drinks & food.

DianneScruff - you might be surprised it's probably not about girls at all - more about asserting his space as a male. You know they're very competitive, I'm always surprised by the way they notice who's bigger, taller, looks stronger - strong gets respect. It's like street-cred for guys.

Thanks Marydean, skim milk powder sounds a lot cheaper . Street-cred for guys, love it thanks hun you always have a way of opening my eyes, never looked at it in that way. Now to search for those magazines, might just have a perve of those hot bods myself .
