I concieved on sept 15 2009 and am having a girl. so in this case it is correct. Very interesting.
Sorry mods if this is in the wrong section - but I was keen to reach mummas with bubs in arms...
Hiya,
I recently came across and have been reading up on the Jonas method - which claims a 98% accuracy rate for determining gender based on the position of the moon and planets in the lunar cycle etc.
According to this theory, you are most likely to conceive a boy when the zodiac is in a positive sign, and a girl when the zodiac is in a negative sign (I have very little knowledge of astrology so have no idea what the negative and positive refers to exactly - perhaps someone can enlighten me?). Proponents of this method have a very fancy, in depth and apparently 'scientific' explanation for the success rate.
I have to admit that I was more than a little skeptical, but after going back to my charts from when I conceived my 2 boys (one in early June and the other in early Feb), I was surprised to find that both support the theory as they were conceived in the middle of a positive sign. I also worked out my friend's kids (2 girls), which again supported the theory. (Of course I am not sold on the method from 2 participants alone!!)
The supposed weakness of this method is that, when ovulation occurs around the time of a shift in the zodiac, and due to variations in the life of sperm/egg, exact position of the zodiac at conception cannot be guaranteed. I hope that makes sense? This method also takes into account lunar conception based upon your apparent natal lunar angle (angle of the moon at your birth), but that is a whole other thread....
So anyways, although I am skeptical i am also curious, so i thought it would be fun to start a little 'study' - where you can post the sign that you conceived within, along with the gender of your child for that pregnancy. It is probably only worth posting if you are absolutely sure of when you ovulated/conceived, and if this time falls well within the boundaries of a single zodiac sign, otherwise if it was on or near the borderline than specify this as it may affect the 'validity' of the method - LOL. To make it easier, I have put the positive signs in blue for boy, and the negative signs in pink for girl.
Aries: Mar 21 - Apr 20
Taurus: April 21 - May 21
Gemini: May 22 - June 21
Cancer: June 22 - July 23
Leo: July 24 - Aug 23
Virgo: Aug 24 - Sept 23
Libra: Sept 24 - Oct 23
Scorpio: Oct 24 - Nov 22
Sagittarius: Nov 23 - Dec 22
Capricorn: Dec 23 - Jan 20
Aquarius: Jan 21 - Feb 19
Pisces: Feb 20 - March 20
So I'll go first:
Conception #1 - Positive (Gemini), Gender - Boy
Conception #2 - Positive (Aquarius), Gender - Boy
I can't believe I am posting this, but hey - there are apparently many women out there who swear by it, so I am interested to see the results!!
Thanks in advance for your participation.![]()

my first one was in the very middle and he was a boy if i go by my conception date he should be a girl if i go by the docs he should be a boy so who knows theres 48 hours difference cant be a 100% when he was concieved
this one was concieve in Aquarius but i hope its wrong lol
according to the chinese lunar calender DS is right and i hope this one is right lol
That's a really interesting concept! I'll have to go back through my records as I can't remember DS's conception date, I'll let ya know!
Hmmm, how interesting.
My DS's were conceived during Aquarius (now I have that song in my head LOL) which is positive. And my DD was conceived at around the end of Scorpio which is negative.
But seeing that my Baby Buddies would have conceived around the same time as me and some had the opposite genders to me, I think it might all just be a bit of a coincidence. I certainly wouldn't put too much faith in the theory.
LOL - the exact same thing happened to me the other day!
I was thinking the same thing re: baby buddies. The only way it could be plausible is if we all had varying lengths in gestation - 37 weeks, 40 weeks, 42 weeks etc....and hence although genders were different, conception periods were different too. Unsure about the likelihood of that though!
I will have to work backwards for this because I have to think about when I conceived the older three LOL.
Baby #4 was conceived on December 24, 2006 under capricorn and was a boy - so that one is wrong
Baby #3 was conceived during September/October under Libra and was a girl - also wrong
Baby #2 was conceived during late January on the cusp of Capricorn and Aquarius and was a girl
Baby #1 was conceived sometime during May/June in Gemini and was a boy
So it looks like another myth is busted. It can't truely be that easy otherwise everyone would surely know about it by now!?
Well, it's still fun doing these things....![]()
Wrong for me!
#1 was conceived in capricorn, he is a boy not a girl.
#2 was conceived in taurus, he is a boy not a girl.
#3 was most likely conceived in cancer, he is a boy not a girl.
So I guess if I go by this method as it shows for me if I want a girl I have to conceive in a 'boy' geared sign![]()
