Question Do I have to go to the MCHN for 12mth check up?

Just wondering as I find it really hard to get in and sometimes I find it a bit of a waste of time.

I am taking DD to the doctors tomorrow to get her vaccinations and figured I could ask him to weigh and measure her and check anything.

Also figured I could just ask everyone on here any questions I have on food, milk, sleep, development, etc.

I last took her at 6 months and 10 months.

We haven't been to the 12 month check up. easy to get in to, I just don't want to go. I have a fear that they will tell me something is wrong, and prefer to ask my BB freinds.

So if you are not concerned, don't bother with going.

I didn't. I just asked my GP about any concerns when I got her vaccinations done.

I haven't taken J since his 4 month check up.
He's at the GP regularly enough, and I find her a lot easier to deal with than the MCHN.

I've never taken my kids to a mchn for anything. I have a gp, he has a nurse who does the immunisations. They know what to look for.

    Thanks girls. Good to know.

I suppose if there were any concerns they would refer me to my GP anyway so probably best just to go straight to him. I dont have any major concerns anyway as all of you put my mind at ease

I never took dd. We had a couple of home visits and the nurse was a nightmare so we never went to the clinic. I had my own set of baby scales and a really good GP who was great!

I went to the first MCHN appointment and never went back so no, you are not required to go at all

A lot of the big chemists/pharmacies these days have baby scales and are willing to weigh your baby for you if you just want then weighed anyway. So do a lot of GPs.
It seems that that was the only useful thing my MCHN ever did anyway.....
