MIL bought DP and I a set of pots and pans as were moving into our house hopefully just after Easter, we had no idea she was buying them but i'm in love.

6 Piece RACO set, stainless steel with copper bases

Reading the instructions as i really want to keep these ones in good nick and it says the copper base has a protective covering to protest it while in packaging and to remove it you should soak each pot/pan in a mix of water and bi-carb to dissolve it, do other pots need this or is it just the copper based ones?

I had never heard of it before, also what is a proprietary copper cleaner,it says to use this on any stains on the base.. any suggestions?
