Question How much water should i be trying to give my 5mo ?

i read somewhere that when FF your baby, you should try to feed them water as well (cooled boiled water of course) i was just wondering how much should i be attemptiong to give her.
i was givingher water with a faster flowing teat, and she wouldnt drink it, so i changed to slower flowing teat (i also put it in a different bottle altogether, we use the avent bottles for her FF, but i just got one of those big W bottles for her water- just so she would (might) notice the difference between the bottles and know she's getting water) and yesterday she drank over 50mls of water, which i was quite happy about
how much should i be trying to give her?
TIA for your help ladies xx

I wouldn't worry about how much in volume she is getting, just offer it between feeds and if she is thirsty she'll have some. I really only started giving DD water on hot days during summer, and now that she is having solids whenever she has a meal and once or twice between milk/solid feeds.

    Question

My DS is 8 (almost 9) months old and still doesn't drink anything other than breast milk. He wont take a bottle, sippy cup or normal cup, he's just not interested.

Having said that we have only tried an avent bottle and a nuby sippy cup as well as a normal cup.

He also hates the taste- even if I mix a little water with his food, when it's a bit dry, he can taste it and pulls faces.
He doesn't like apple juice either.

Until what age am I supposed to boil his water?
Any tips to get him to drink it? (I've tried EBM in the bottle but can only express about 40mls, it takes forever and he wont drink it anyway.)

Sorry, didn't mean for this to be so long or to hijack your thread. Was meant to be a quick question.

stevie, whatever she will take, i offer DD water in a sippy cup between each bottle, sometimes she will have 100ml sometimes none...i wouldnt really stress about it, if shes thirsty you will know!! but i like offering DD it in a sippy cup instead of bottle caus then she knows its not 'mlik' time kwim?

heva, boiled water upto 1 yr old....also maybe try 10 or 20ml of prune juice in the water makes it nice and sweet (but may give ur DS the runs, my DD has constipation so it helps)

thanks Emma the only reason im using a bottle at the moment is coz DD cant sit up unassisted and was told not to give her a sippy cup until she can, as soon as she can sit up unassisted ill be giving it to her in a sippy cup and i wont use bottle for anything other than her Formula.

stevie you can get her used to a sippy cup by putting her slightly reclined e.g. recline setting of high chair or baby seat and holding the sippy cup for her, my DD slowly started wanting to hold it herself
