DD seems to have been having horrible reactions to Grapes and 160b, headbutting tantrum not sleeping etc. I have stopped feeding her grapes and have been avoiding foods with additives etc in it.
I have a few questions, i know sliced processed cheese is not good because of the 160b but is there a cheese i can buy her with no additives apart from block cream cheese. She loves cheese as a snack and in sandwhiches.
Also what snacks do you give your kids that are additive free, the kinds of things you can put into the nappy bag and take along with you.
Any other advice on going additive free too will be very much appreciated.
Did you know grapes have the highes source of natural MSG in them? Jazz can't have grapes, and even tomatoes send her a bit troppo.
We use block cheese because I haven't found (ie haven't really looked...) any processed cheeses without preservatives.
Healthy snacks we give... fruit, cucumber and capsicum slices and carrot sticks, saos, arrowroot biscuits (lots of sugar though), home made fruit muffins, home made cakes...
Salad, I just took a look at my cheese block (just a normal one from Aldi), and its totally preservative free. I swapped DS from cheese slices to block cheese without any issues.
As for other snacks that are "safe", I know Sue Dengate says Arrowroots are ok. Also, you can make your own chips from pita bread (just make sure it doesn't have preservative 282 in it)- cut it up, spray a bit of oil over the top, sprinkle with a little salt, and pop in the oven for like 10-15 minutes. Easy and yummy. You will find heaps of ideas in Sue's book too.
